Eh...I don't think it's that sad. I wouldn't say "just" getting to the Sweet 16 would be a failure of a season, but you'd have to admit it would be a downer after spending the majority of the season being pumped as a Final Four team.

I think an Elite 8 run would be more celebrated than not, considering we have all of 1 in our history.
Even when we were #1 I wasn’t buying it, maybe I’m more grounded than most...even if you are #1 it takes a lot of luck to make th F4, but even so we were outside the Top 4 in most metrics.

Going to be a rough few weeks but I think we will fight and scratch our way to victory with maybe 1 or 2 more losses coming our way

Good starting 5 but big drop off of bench players. Thorobred teams have talent 9 deep. Duke, Ky, UNC etc.
Injury, foul trouble or fatigue will take its toll on team
Is Barnes killing them in practice, then playing hard during games too????
Tennessee, UK, and Duke all have 8 guys averaging double-digit minutes.

Are our #6, 7, and 8 guys in minutes played...Alexander, Pons, and Fulkerson (combined 14.8 ppg, 11.5 rpg) that much less effective than Quickley, Richards, and Montgomery (13.1 ppg, 7.5 rpg)? Is UK really that much deeper?

Are Alexander, Pons, and Fulkerson that much less effective than Marques Bolden, Jacob DeLaurier, and Alex O’Connell for Duke (13.2 ppg, 9.8 rpg)? Is Duke really that much deeper?

UNC has 9 guys playing double-digit minutes. Nassir Little, Seventh Woods, Brandon Robinson, and Rechon Black combine for 19.2 ppg, and 9.1 rpg. Even with an extra man to account for, is UNC really that much deeper?

So is this team. No fire right now at all. I thought that this team would play with fire because of the way they were bad mouthed all weekend but NOPE.
You must have missed where we held our opponent to 46 tonight. If you ask me, we are getting back to that gritty, ugly style of play that got us here in the first place starting in about November of 2017
Now all we need is to get our offensive mojo back.

The Vols bench plays 27% of the teams minutes. The median bench participation for the last 12 national champions is 28% which is typically in the bottom 25% of all college basketball teams. Only UNC in 17 ranked in the top half of college basketball in bench minutes.

Bam, just like I’ve been saying all along...nothing wrong with our depth or who’s getting minutes.

I really appreciate the effort and research that some individuals in this forum put into keeping all of us informed and educated on the topics at hand. Thank you and keep up the great work.
