Good thing is we know this team can play with any team in the country, that's when they look fresh and our guards are hitting shots and we are playing good defense. Hopefully Barnes gives them the opportunity to get rested before tourney time. I don't see us winning at LSU and may very well lose at Auburn too. Not sure the SECT is something we need to go all out on either and get worn down. Focus on getting back to team ball and resting the starters a little more to get ready for a tourney run in March madness

More wah wah wah. When did all the gloaters and pussies join this board. don't remember any of them ever posting before. Need to move anything that smells of TROLL to a special TROLL forum.

We have enough good players that should not have needed extensive rest. I don't understand not getting extended minutes to Johnson, Pons, Fulk and even Walker in order to keep our A team rested for the final lap.

It’s typical. Happens every year. So high when we win and so low when we lose.
But we didn’t lose and people are still “Sky is falling”. I’ll admit they are slumping but to say it’s all over, they are done, is straight up trolling by the OP

I Don't think it's even fair to say we are even slumping. There isn't one power 5 team in the country that Isn't playing games like this right now.

To me it's like a baseball player that hits.405 for half the season and the second half of the year hit .350 and falls below .400. It wasn't a slump that did it it was just the reality of the game.

Funny how schizophrenic this board is
Let's see. We're 24-2 (12-1), at this point in first place, ranked in the Top 5 in America, have shown the capability to absolutely be an offensive juggernaut, and have a team whose chemistry together is beyond the norm in college basketball. Barnes said it best when he said that you can't coach made baskets. Hit lots of shots and you look great. Miss lots of shots for 2 games and you can look terrible. If we won every game we played, we would be Duke. Wait a minute. Someone just mentioned Duke has lost this year......no way.

I can see that. But our shooting has been really bad the last two games. While i give KY partial credit, I don’t give Vandy any credit. So that’s why I say slumping. I think we went like 27% from 3 and 41% for the field. Missed some wide open shots and layups. Passing was poor. Not saying they can’t correct this though.

It's good we're having a little adversity now. Work through it, learn from it, then be ready to roll for six games straight the latter part of March and early April.

I'd like to see a list of teams that have shot over 50% from the floor for an entire season because my guess is it's extremely rare in power 5 conferences.

So I see the "lull" in shooting as more of just evening up the averages than anything else.
Very much like my baseball analogy a few post back

Ok, If we are coming back to the field then we aren’t an elite IMO. So I see it as a slump or lull and we will be back to elite soon, like when we whip LSU Saturday

You must have missed where we held our opponent to 46 tonight. If you ask me, we are getting back to that gritty, ugly style of play that got us here in the first place starting in about November of 2017

Interesting. That's one way to look at it. Barnes has been referring to such for a while now.

Good starting 5 but big drop off of bench players. Thorobred teams have talent 9 deep. Duke, Ky, UNC etc.
Injury, foul trouble or fatigue will take its toll on team
Is Barnes killing them in practice, then playing hard during games too????

I don’t think Duke has ever been deep.

sense when did we become Alabama fans who complain we didn't score enough in our win? Should we have played better on offense? Sure. And we will. Better to slump during regular season than in tournament play. #GBO

Thanks dude I’ve never seen post in here before.
You have not seen me posting much either; but the OP just verbalizes what a sizable segment of band wagon riders will always come up with. I really liked what CRB said in trying to explain "Why?" He basically said, "I don't know. Some games are like that."

Kentucky literally played right after us and won by single digits against Missouri

The team I saw tonight has lost the Edge...
- Players going through the motions
- Tired (Gee...whose responsibility is it to sub players?)
- Feeling sorry for themselves
- Lost Identity
- Grant said it best - Imposters..
- They look weak
- Barnes throwing subs in for a few minutes, and again riding the 6 to the house.
- Players sprawling from phantom fouls
- LSU will immasculate the Orange..

Meanwhile, KENTUCKY is sending Mizzou & UT players to the hospital after their slow start....REAL

Don't you think you are overreacting to a 2 loss/Top 5 team? Teams are gunning for UT now, they have plenty of film, their being taken serious. You have no idea what you are talking about, and Williams said that in a emotional moment, and I don't believe you are a Vol Fan if that is all you saw, but only a lonely old troll.

Go Vols!!

Yeah but you sound reasonable, therefore I'm not going to bust you over not posting much.

Sad if true

Eh...I don't think it's that sad. I wouldn't say "just" getting to the Sweet 16 would be a failure of a season, but you'd have to admit it would be a downer after spending the majority of the season being pumped as a Final Four team.

I think an Elite 8 run would be more celebrated than not, considering we have all of 1 in our history.

The last two games have just exposed stuff that has been going on for the last several games.

Admiral quietly hasn't been all that good for the last few weeks. We almost lost to 2 pretty bad teams (Alabama and Vandy) in mid-January, right around the time we had a chance to become #1 and that first game we actually were #1. Against Alabama, at South Carolina, and at A&M, we had large leads that we blew before ultimately winning. The home game against Florida was kind of a lethargic, uninspired effort even though we won handily. Also, where has the Grant Williams post up game gone?

When we finally played a great team again for the first time in a while, we got punched right in the mouth and had no answer for it.

Probably, but there’s a lot of achievements I would take over that and that aren’t dependent on winning that game.
Yeah, I wonder how many on this site would be happy if we won the SEC outright, but lost the first game in the tournament? We will be in the dance whether we win the SEC or not. I would prefer we were champions in all three, regular season champs, SEC tournament champs and National Champs. In reality, only one of those three really matters.

Sounds like some of the fans are wilting IMO. Buck up.
