Volunteer Memories....

Lately has been the kneel down on the last game of the season, but for me it is the old classic 1998 Florida game:

"With the field goal made, it will tie the game. The kick is up and this time the kick is no good! Final score Tennessee 20 Florida 17. Pandemonium rains!

Good one. I had some Bama fans bothering me all week and then that happened. Never heard from them again until a couple of years ago- big surpurise huh? They were probably TN fans and then USC fans before coming back to Bama.

Since memories are all we have, at the moment, I would like to see some posting/linking of moments in Volunteer's past, that make you smile.

I know this entire game made me smile, on January 1, 1986, in New Orleans. In particular, at the 2:27:38 mark.

Personal memory for me

Took my two son's to their first Tennessee football game last year against Montana.

Started out at TGIF, having chicken tenders and coke.

Arrived at the tailgating area, played corn hole and threw football with other fans.

Even the walk, though hot that day was fun, as we sang and chanted with the rest the volunteer fans.

Boys went nuts as the T formed and the players ran out onto the field. Nothing like that in college football always exhilarating.

Even the rain delay was fun watched two drunk girls dance in puddles of rain in the corridors.

Left excited for the season and had ice cream before heading home.

Nothing like being a Father. :peace2:

One thing has always stood out, in my mind. See, I was a Southern Cal fan, early on. I really began to enjoy WATCHING football around 1974-75. I remember watching UT play on TV a few times, before that. But I never really got into it.

I remember, my dad let me stay up late one night, and watch USC vs Notre Dame. Dad hated Notre Dame. He still does. Anyhow, Notre Dame just bulldozed USC, enroute to a 24-6 halftime lead. It was pretty boring at that point. Then, in the second half, a guy by the name of Anthony Davis happened. He returned the second half kickoff 100 yards for a USC TD. That was exciting!! Then, on 4th down, he returned a ND punt, 73 yards for a TD. I was like, Wow!!!!! He went on to score on a two runs, and a pass reception, as USC rallied and beat ND 55-24. I was hooked. I still watched and listened to the Vols. But I was a USC fan.

Then, my dad got tickets to the UT-LSU game in knoxville, in 1983. I had never been to a live College game before. So I begged him to take me. He agreed. I had no idea what I was about to witness, with 95,000 other fans, and a large ESPN TV audience.

The Tigers were a very powerful running team. Dalton Hilliard and some guy named James were bulldozing everyone. They had runover FSU the week before, for over 350 yards rushing in a shootout loss. The QB and WR's were not slouches either.

The world was about to witness the greatest performance by a defensive lineman in college history. I sat there for four quarters and watched as REGGIE WHITE (#92 in your program, #1 in your hearts) personally destroyed EVERYTHING LSU attempted on offense, single-handed. 4 sacks, and 7 tackles for loss. 2 blocked passes, and a fumble caused and recovered.Tennesse held LSU to 26 yards rushing, and less than 100 total yards. Tennessee beat LSU. They whipped em', 20-6. This time, I WAS REALLY HOOKED. I've been GBO ever since then. Just thinking about that game brings a smile, and a bit of a tear to my eye.

I was so proud to be a Tennesse Vol that day. Have been ever since.

LSU came in ranked #6 in the Nation, and 7-0. They were the most powerful running team in the Country. Dalton Hilliard and some guy named James were bulldozing everyone. They had runover FSU the week before, for over 350 yards rushing. The QB and WR's were not slouches either.

UT beat LSU 20-6 in 1983. They weren't 7-0 but 2-2 before the game losing to FSU and UF. That was Reggie White's SR season at UT. He was a beast that game!!! :good!::good!:

You can easily timestamp a youtube link to the point in the video you want us to see.

You simply add the timestamp to the end of the video link. Examples: #t=1m30s , #t=90s , #t=2h27m38s

Tennessee vs. Auburn 1985. Incredibly warm sunny September Day on the turf. Bo Jackson & Co. roll into Neyland ranked #1. Tennessee supposedly had no chance. The Vols had them 24-0 at halftime. The phrase "all in" epitomized that game. The team and crowd were out of their heads.

Tony Robinson was outrageously on point. Tim McGee had one of the most incredible games of any wideout I can remember. They cover, double him, jam him at the line and nothing worked.

I mostly remember the sheer violence of Tennessee defense and O-line. Today's Bama and LSU defenses had nothing on that team. Dale Jones, Darrin Miller, Charles Davis, etc. I know the players are bigger and faster today, but the hitting out there was incredible. Jackson got knocked out of the game in the third quarter.

That game sticks out to me like no others. It is even more poignant because of the downward spiral Tony Robinson's life took in the years after that. But on that day, in that game, he was the best damn player in college football.
