Vols! Where a 4 million dollar coach with a 2-2 record against Vandy deserves no criticism.. vols!

I am curious as to how his job is made harder by fans posting on an internet site?

You're right...18-22 year olds have yet to discover the interwebz and message boards. No way in hell constant negativity could ever get back to the team. How stupid could someone be to think that players, staff, family of players or family of staff would ever check out a message board about the team. And of course even if they did and the negativity was carried out like a cancer into the community and locker room, well that's on them not the fine upstanding posters that post constant and consistent negative drivel about the team.

Some folks just do not have the ability to think beyond their keyboards.

It is the way the world is and you have to learn how to live in it. If i were a player on tennessee defense with dreams of an nfl career id be far more concerned about playing on a d giving up 600 ypg tgen some random comments on a message board.

You can whine and complain about it all you want. It doesnt change the fact that we need to be teaching our kids how to deal with it, and if we are not, we are failing.

A team that's under constant criticism and the head coach gets blasted constantly! VOLS! When they win they are picked apart and criticize when they lose they are picked apart and criticize ! VOLS! A team that lost 12 starters in 2016 and still faught like hell! A team that has done things that hasn't been done since the early 90s and gets no respect! A team that has coaches who's job is made harder by its fanbase bc some not all are beyond ignorant but are entitled to their ignorant opinions ! Not factual! But wait here's the good part , that some not all will not see, in spite of all this the coaches the team has never quit under BUTCH FREAKING JONES ! And when this Fanbase some not all cries because they don't have instant gratification this team gives their all! And if we as fans would give our all we could have a positive impact instead of acting like four-year-old who can't get their freaking way ! Go Vols! Bama your going down! Pass the crown!

Hey to the people who's opinions I do not respect! I'm sure if you get on twitter, that you can find something really stupid to raise he'll about! Or you could blog about how the quality of your McDonald's mc double did not meet your standards!
Anyone who would eat there or expects McDonalds & Quality to have something in common, doesn't have any standards. JMO:thumbsup:

We don't always criticize the team and coach. We've been through a rough 7 years or so. We were horribly coached by Dooley and then allowed our bama legacy idiot of an ad to make what ends up being the biggest decision of the decade (choosing a head coach), and he choose an average big east coach. The coach by the way that dooley had his best win against.
Butch has inherited an absolute amazing situation as all of our eastern rivals have made coaching changes and TN is producing the most talent we've ever seen. And yet we're 2-2 against vandy. Even though we have future nfl players all over the field butch chooses the most conservative coaching style you'll ever see and it's almost sad how pathetic the game management/clock management is in games. He rarely makes any top 30 lists of coaches and is constantly upset/worried about what the media and fans think of him.
We're all fans or we wouldn't be here. Sorry we don't meet your cookie cutter idea of what a fan should say and do

What would our fanbase have said after this game in 1998.

K Jeff Hall hit a 27 Yard field goal as time expired to give the Vols a key road win. This was the second game winning kick of Hall's career (Georgia 1995). In his first game as a starter QB Tee Martin went only 9-of-26 for 143 yards, but led the Vols into field goal range for the final kick. HB Jamal Lewis led the Vols with 140 yards rushing and a touchdown. WR Peerless Price had two touchdown receptions.

QB Donovan McNabb gave the Volunteer defense fits, putting up 300 yards with a 22-for-28 day
=================================================
Tee Martin is horrible.

Our pass defense is miserable.

When Peyton left, it was our last chance for any type of championship.

We only won because of our running back and one of our receivers.
=================================================

It's early in a very long season. 1998 also included the miracle fumble by Arkansas, a field goal win against Florida and a come from behind win against Miss St in the SEC championship. Any of those games end differently, and we do not have a national championship. I know I'll just be another voice of reason that is smothered by those always seeking the greener grass, but can we celebrate for just a second that our team pulled off a win in an improbable way?

So you do understand the world we live in and how constant negativity impacts those involved in whatever is being *****ed about.

Why ask the question "I am curious as to how his job is made harder by fans posting on an internet site?"

Are you just trying to help toughen up the players and coaches?

I give him credit for motivating the team instilling a never quit attitude. But his lack of coaching ability is becoming more apparent. Luckily he recruites well enough to overcome some of it.

Yeah, that "lucky recruiting" is handy stuff.

We have a vocal minority of bashers, but not sure any more vocal than UGA, Penn St, FL, etc...difference is, they've not been in a 10 year drought from winning at least a division championship. Look at UGA...all their fans were talking like they were coming from some dark place (they don't know darkness like we've had) and it's going to take Kirby 3 years to build, and yet, they've averaged 9.45 wins the past 20 years.

Social media and full flow of random thoughts are the new reality, unfortunately. But, journalists/fans/social media moves around like a fart on a skillet, so, let Butch go on a run this year, and all the sudden, his perceived quirkiness will be touted as pure genius...

I could be totally wrong, but think we're not that far from being a really good team. Going into season, I thought D could be dominant, and just needed average QB play w/ great running game to exceed expectations. I've revised after first game...D needs to prove it can shore things up, and we're going to need really good QB play to equalize what hope will be at least an average defense.

That's not what his sentence meant, and you're intelligent enough to realize that. I'll translate...It's FORTUNATE that he has the recruiting skills to overcome his shortcomings on gameday. The talent he has amassed by being a top-notch recruiter compensates for his deficiencies as a game coach.

Not sure who this is directed towards but for purposes of my post I'll assume it's me.

Couple of things;
First off, not accusing anyone of not being a fan nor saying you can't be a fan any way you prefer. It's 'merica by God and I got my rights.. Just pointing out how fans truly do impact what's happening in the locker room. Case in point. We may possibly lose JG simply because keyboard coaches didn't like his f*****g body language on the sidelines of his first collegiate game and are running the kid down all over the media. Anywhere they can get there voice heard or post read they are saying what a piece of crap baby he his. If that's my kid I would be having serious doubts about his choice of schools. How pathetic some are.

Second thing.

If you were a fan during the Battle years, the early Majors years or the God-Forsaken Dooley years, how in the Sam Hell can you complain about a coach that has went to 3 straight bowl games and performed pretty damn well in them. Have you folks forgotten the dumpster fire the DD left and how Kiffen brought his gas can to follow up?

Is Butch the best coach in the land? Not even close. However the University of Tennessee in it's 100+ years of playing football can only tentatively lay claim to that title once, when Robert Neyland coached us. And I'm sure there are some who would work to dispute that. So why do you guys think one of the top 10 football coaches in the world are coming here to coach? It may happen but is highly unlikely.

CBJ has turned this program from a laughingstock on the field into a team that will play it's ass off for 60 minutes. He also has an opportunity to return us to the glory days of Fulmer, who was also reviled by a certain segment of our fanbase.

CBJ is arguably the 3rd best coach to ever walk the sidelines at UT and y'all are wanting him fired after 5 years. Cuuurraaaaaazzzeeeeee.

It's amazing the Vols winning games where they give up 600-700 yds offense.....incredibly bad defense again this year......where are you Bob Shoop?

Review the "Oh look..." posts.

I'm not trying to be a smart aleck. Just weary of the recurrent shout-down posts of coach or play support as if one is the expert.

Yeah...as opposed the the unquestioning Butch disciple posts. I can see how that would bug you.

The one that are bashing players and coaches justify their actions by:

1) It doesn't get to the players.

2) If it does get to the players, it shouldn't bother them.

3)It does get to the players, but they need to toughen up and not let it bother them.

4)It happens everywhere. Why should I stop? When I bash I get likes.

5) No one has valued my opinion before. Why would they start now?

6)The only attention I get is when I bash. I'm called stupid or a troll. But hey, that's better than nothing. I can at least play the woe is me card, for being mistreated on the internet.

7) It's America! I have the right to say the stupidest stuff and then crybaby about being called stupid(I've been called stupid all my life. Why should I expect any different now?), It's worse when your own daddy calls you stupid compared to some random from the internet, well they should put me on ignore if they don't want to listen to my worthless dribble, I mean my insightful opinion.

You had me until 3rd best coach...he certainly can be that guy, but needs to at least win the east before leapfrogging Dickey, Majors, Barnhill, and proving he doesn't belong in the Battle, Wyatt cluster of coaches who had modest success at one point in their UT career.

Who's this Sam Hell guy you speak of? ha

Back then we trusted fulmer to have a double digit win total. The same cant be said for Jones

Lol, if we lose JG it will be because his coach constantly said both QBs would play to open the season and they did. I may be wrong but i dont think JG was sitting on the sideline reading volnation when he looked upset. Heres a weird idea. Coach him up. Letting him sit on the sideline doing nothing is stupid. Stand him beside the qb coach and talk to him as the game progresses. See what he is seeing etc. But yeah, im sure twitter post were pissing him off during the game

Funny how you selectively see what you want. Take a look back at the threads of colton jumper and see you supported the player. Do the same for the JG and kongbo threads. Take a look at the Callaway and Kelly mentions and on and on. Sure i poke fun at the constant super fan and feels like 98 threads, the let me tell you what you should think threads, the you know nothing about football threads, and it will continue. So cry me a river. Ill give D4H one thing, he says alot of stupid stuff, but he defines his position and admits wrong and engages in discussion instead of crying all the time.
