I thought MH did the right thing by turning down USC for the 11 opener but after listening to tony basilio today he fired me up and i think we should call them back and accept!

i think anytime we could put tennessee in the spotlight would be a good thing

not to mention it would be played in atlanta...the heartbeat of our recruiting base.

this aint the 04 USC...they lost 4 games last year in the pac-10...

by 11' we could be a decent team..and they will have had a year of defection of their juniors and seniors..and not a great recruiting year this year...

guys we are getting bullied here and kiffin is making us look like chumps in the eyes of the media and the country...

anyone reading this please e-mail the athletic department and say lets play um!
I SAY PLAY THE HIPPIES!!!!!:furious3::rtfm::machgun::machgun::daddy:

Which, if signed, would happen around the year 2020. Who cares?

Hat, If you had to pick one of the two, Kiffin or Dooley, who would be more likely, In your opinion, to still be Head coach at their current job.

Don't play big national teams because you might get beat? Hopefully that's not Dooley's plan.

I had this mentality for about 30 seconds earlier today but as bad as I would love to send them back to Southern Califonia with their tails between their legs I just can't buy that it was a good idea. It would just hurt too bad to loose it and flame me if you want but that would most likely be the result.

Not to mention that most of what I'm seeing in the media is that Lane is the chump not us. I think this one kinda backfired on him. If anything I think he just shined a spotlight on the fact that Tennessee plays a brutal ooc schedule year in and year out. Something I rarely ever hear talked about. Although I remember once on the Herd Colin was talking about teams that have the balls to schedule tough ooc games and he specifically named Tennessee as one of the teams he respected for not being afraid to play the best.

In 2020? Dooley and it's not close. The deal is the same for Kiffin at SC as it was at Tennessee. He'll either succeed within a fairly compact period and head back to the NFL or he'll not win enough to make his arrogance bearable and be fired in fairly short order. He doesn't really want to be a college coach and everything he does is with designs on getting back to the pros.

I think Kiffy hit the panic button and released this spin story about a refusal to play 2011 game to try and keep more players from leaving the Trogans team.

That's exactly what he did. UT had already refused the 2011 opener a month ago and Kiffin chose to "release" the story now because he was in a panic and needed to bring some good attention back to USC.

Playing a Clemson team that annually pisses itself when facing a team anywhere near competitive and playing USC is two different things.

Also, the talent level at Bama was a whole lot better than Tennessee's will be in 2011.

It would be great if Tennessee went down there in 2011 and stomped USC.

However, it doesn't make fiscal sense or common sense to do it.

You split revenues down the middle. How many USC fans are going to travel to Atlanta to watch USC play an overmatched Tennessee team? Very few.

Why share the gate revenue with a team bringing a few thousand fans?

Tennessee is going to make more money playing North Texas.

Lose to USC and validate Kiffin's comments.

Play them and let the chips fall where they may.

Do really think a Tn. team can't beat a PAC 10 team that is now on probation, losing players , a loser coach? How do you expect to play SEC teams each week? Lots of Alabama fans thought the same thing about opening with these teams. Saban knew best, these 2 games were big factors in defining his teams and what he expected. Big mistake not taking this opportunity to get back in the national picture. As far as Clemson, they were ranked ahead of Alabama and picked to win.

There was also a big Meet and Greet held at Bar Knoxville Thursday evening with the football team. A shame you missed that as well.
