Do you agree with this decision.

How many games did USC win last year?
Who believes that Kiffin is a better coach than Carrol?

With that said, I believe that UT would give USC everything they could handle.

Doesn't matter, any argument over the subject is irrelevant seeing as how the two teams will not be playing anytime soon.

Careful, implying UT is capable of playing USC without getting hammered may offend the sensibilities of our resident realists/martyrs.

Thats why they play the game. I am not out selling a 2011 game as I agree, we should not play into the trap. However, not to play under the assumption we will be slaughtered is crazy talk. Hat is the dodo bird and should stick to roundball.
Where did I say Tennessee should or shouldn't play the game? I'm going to assume the paint huffing induced hallucinations have run up on you again.

Wouldn't it be great for the Vols to play SC, beat em and then "sing Rocky Top all night long"? Vols and Tider's have one thing in common: Your head says naw we ain't ready for them yet but your pride says BRING EM ON!

They can spin it that we are scared of them, but they know they are not going to a bowl game in 2011 so there is no downside for them losing to us. They would blame it on lack of scholarships or whatever, jetlag...They know if we lost to them it would really hurt us.

They wont have to spin. There are UT fans in this very thread saying SC will obliterate us.

Very pussified I must say

what reason do we have to play them? CFL made it seem like Kiffin was a genious for suggesting it.

the nation knows that USC would drive a spike through our heads next year, and Kiffin would see to that. i like that we said no. just one more way to spurn Kiffin and keep them out of the national spotlight (a.k.a the Kickoff-classic).

it almost seems a ploy of desperation by Kiffin to me--one to get a major game in place of a bowl and one to beat us. i love that we denied him both.

I tend to agree. Why let X dictate when we play them. No thanks, we'll call you when we're ready.:hi:

I don't think USC will be able to play in this game.. I haven't looked at their schedule, but I think that would be an extra game... I don't think the NCAA will let them play an extra game... The made an exception for Hawaii this year and moved the limit back to 2011 & 2012..

I love Tennessee as much as the next fan and I'm a bit biased but 5 sophomores on the OL next year against all of the 5* defensive players that Carroll has been recruiting would be a bloodbath and there's no way to sugarcoat it....

BS!!!!
We will be awesome next year, whats wrong with you people!!! F*@k yea i wanna play em!!! You really think there better than Gators or gaytide last year!!! Wake up!!!

The Vols need to walk on egg-shells here. Like many have said Lane might be alot of things but he knows how to play the media. If the whole Lebron thing wasn't going on ESPN would eat this up. I'd personally would love to see this game but on a level playing field. Right now it would be sending " and i know i'll be bashed for this" sending highschool players in to play NFL players. While Tennessee will be playing the season for a shot at a bowl game. Would it be a good idea to get knocked off the first game of the year?

The benefits are all in his favor. His name is mud in the south and he wants a game in the south to recruit.

Clay Travis's new article states that according to Hamilton the $$ from the chick-fil-a game gets split between both teams. Expected total net revenue from the game would be about $2.5 mil per team.

The home game we would have to give up would bring in over 6 million. Assuming the numbers are correct, would we want to give up almost 4 million dollars for one game? Bad business decision.

I wouldn't want to play them next year either. If we could get the game for 2012 that would be great. If not, then I would like to see it in 2015. The reasoning for 2012 is that by 2012 if things are working out for this staff then we should be on par with a USC that is starting to feel the pinch of the lost scholarships.

The reason for 2015 is because if beat them then, they shouldn't be able to use the excuse that we only beat them because of the lost scholarships. I don't think it will take them more than two or three years to recover once the sanctions end.

The only real reason any of us should want to see this game is because it's Tennessee and USC. Two very storied programs.

Once again, we lost to both of those teams last year so bringing them up in an argument shows how far our program has fallen...

Look what i've created! Haha. IMO I think in 2010 we should invite Kiffey & Co. back to Knoxville and play them. Neyland would go NUTS... Knoxville would go nuts ha.

I would agree, Neyland would be rocking right up to the point where we lose the game and then the excuses would start flying like crazy. Let's get Tennessee back on a level playing field, then go after USC.

Ahh i wrote 2010.. I ment to put 2012 :\

i dont care what players they have, i dont think they could come to the heart of the south and beat us next year. Do you think Lane Kiffin could out coach Dooley?

They've been to the south before (Auburn, Arkansas) and it turned out pretty well for them so that doesn't mean anything. Kiffin wouldn't have to outcoach him and why would you assume Dooley would outcoach Kiffin?

Hey, just out of curiosity, why do you have Oregon listed as your third favorite team?

My friend was gonna play football there after he went to a Nike Sparq competition. He came in 5th and wanted to go there. He ended up opting out and went to play in NC cause it was close to family. And because LaMicheal is my favorite RB ha

Why the hell do we can what CLK wants. So he wants to play us in 2011. He played us in 2009. We have already bent over for him once, why should we do it again? Talent/Depth or lack there of. It make no difference. We said no..our sked is full..Time for the fans/media to move on. CKL is a simple footnote in our great history and this is his way of getting attention. Let his lay in his own mess and just be glad he's not our coach anymore. UT Class of 92'

If LaMichael is your favorite RB, spell his name correctly :p

Just kidding, thanks for the love.
