I was trying to think the last time UT beat a team where theres that big a discrepancy in the rankings between two teams. It might be more recent than i remember but seems like forever.

2004 road win vs Georgia. They were no.3, we were no.17. TN was a 13 pt underdog and people think that was generous because we played like crap the week before and lost to Auburn, while they dominated and destroyed LSU, who won national championship the previous year under Saban.

Sounds familiar? History may repeat itself

Also in 2013 (Butch's first year) unranked UT beat no.11 ranked USCjr at Neyland. It was that game gave many fans the hope that Butch was going to be the man.

Biggest upset ever if measured by diff in rank? I am not sure because we've also beaten a few ranked opponents when unranked, but that road win vs GA was the most memorable one. I can still remember clearly who I watched game with, what I ate, what I did before and after the game that day.

Wow. Thats’s probably it. Nearly 20 years for a reasonably big upset. Thats really sad.

It’s good to have positive optimism but sometimes reality gets in the way.

It is being Rose colored glasses optimistic to expect a good rebuilding Tennessee team upsets a great Georgia team.

The Volunteers would need a great Any Given Saturday performance to defeat a great Georgia team that likely has returned to being a Juggernaut.

Ya know I’ll say this, I don’t think we will pull it off in the end, but I do think it’s going to be closer than people think. I also think UGA should be on upset alert, because this does have the makings of a trap game for them. It all comes down to our secondary, can we stop Bowers and the passing attack? I just don’t know if I trust them.
