Vols will need to score at least __ points to beat LSU?

Probably not as many as people think. Auburn fumbled six times. Six. They also held LSU to five pass yards in the second half and 1 score. The fact that LSU won is honestly mind boggling. Really LSU should be probably 2-3 if it weren't for fumbles by MSU/Auburn, but I don't like the what if game. That being said, their offense is anemic at times and Daniels does not like to throw it down field. I think this matchup may favor us more than some realize, but we shall see.

Really it was four turnovers for Auburn though. 2 fumbles lost and 2 interceptions, still staggering that Auburn only lost by 4. Their offense is completely anemic. LSU can win, i mean anyone that believes they can’t is crazy but they have to keep up with this offense or somehow figure out how to slow it down. I just don’t see that happening.

Yeah, 38 sounds right. More importantly, we can’t give up points off turnovers or special teams mishaps. If we play clean, protect the ball, and do what we do, I think we pull away late.

Yep, and when you look at the passing attacks they have faced, their average opponent passing offense rating is 74th, which is heavily skewed in both directions by MSU at 7th and Southern/New Mexico somewhere behind 120. While Miss State may be 7th in the country in passing offense they are also behind 100th in rushing. I know it's what their offense is predicated on, but take away their ability to pass well and Miss State likely crumbles. I think our offensive attack will be much more balanced against them and we will be the best offense they have faced this year by a long shot.

Two. We need at least two to beat LSU. Because you can't score just one
Yes you can, but we'd lose 6-1 at minimum if we only scored 1.
since 1 is impossible.
Impossible to win 1-0, but not impossible to score just 1 point.

1 point play can happen 3 ways, all on the point after attempt. For a team to literally only score 1 point in a game, it can only happen 1 way.

The team kicking an extra point somehow gets tackled for a safety. Really bad snap I guess.

I think some of you are completely underestimating LSU. I think they easily get 28.
Crazy isn't it? How people expect us to defend them better than Auburn, Mississippi State, and FSU is a mystery to me.

And on the other side of the ball we're talking about a team that is giving up only 14 ppg and some folks are acting like we're going to walk into Death Valley and hang 50 on the board.

How would opinions differ if they don't miss an extra point in the season opener and were also in the top 10 team right now?

Great points except the question was "at least to beat LSU." If we only score 1 we lose. Therefore, my position remains unchanged.
