Vols vs ucf in the citrus bowl?

What's the Citrus Bowl's incentive for hosting a January Bowl if they can't sell out the stadium and generate hotel and restaurant revenue? The costs would seem to far outweigh any profitability, which is the reason that they host bowl games.

I thought it was a foregone conclusion that bowl games were a pipe dream.

I'll be happy with 8-10 regular season games from my living room.

What I mean is I'd rather play a name school that we are likely to get some reputation points by beating, with UCF I think whatever we may stand to gain is a lot less than what we stand to lose if they beat us. It's that way any time a P5 plays a G5. Of course, I want us to go to a bowl, I'd just rather not play UCF.
I’m not following. UCF is a name school. 22-4 in the last two years is a worthy opponent. They lost to LSU by 8 in a bowl game two years ago. They are legit. And just because they are not power 5 means nothing as they are nationally ranked and have been for a few years. Tennessee playing and beating them would be amazing.

I disagree, they've had a couple of good years, so has Tulane, and Hawaii and others, I'd rather play and beat someone like Texas.

Uh, a trip to a bowl game isn’t exactly “nothing...” Many of our fans need to get over themselves.
I never said I didn't want to go to a bowl, I just don't care for playing UCF or any other Group of 5 team in a bowl.

So would anyone. But we don’t choose. It’s not up to us. But acting like there is nothing to gain from playing and beating a ranked team in bowl (something Tennessee hasn’t done a lot of in the regular season either) is ridiculous. Play what you are dealt and win.

HA! The way this year is going I'll be glad just to get to bowl games. Been a crazy year.

especially ironic since Florida, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee have the same number of appearances (5)
Florida and Georgia have actually been 6 times apiece I think, the source of the jibe came from the fact that we went 3 times in 4 years in the mid-90's, not the total number of appearances.

Florida and Georgia have actually been 6 times a piece I think, the source of the jibe came from the fact that we went 3 times in 4 years in the mid-90's, not the total number of appearances.

And the fact that it still pisses UT fans off 24 years later proves it hit it's mark.

You keep hoping we get UCF in the bowl then, I'll keep hoping we don't.

You did hear they had like 500 cases in Tuscaloosa, right?
And you know they have 38,500 students, right?

Media didn’t mention that part? or that equates to 1.2% of student population and that’s NOT including staff on campus.

As for 5-5, think it’s 7-3 and either beat UF or AM.

Also don’t want to play UCF, there’s no gain there to be found. If you win, you were supposed to, if you lose, see Auburn.

I’m glad people don’t want to play ucf. I’m upset that the records dictate who we play and why and not our opinions. It sucks.
UT could be 6-4 and my opinion is we should play for the national championship.

Lmmfao

The Goonies hadn’t come out when they won the last one!

No way on earth they win it this year, maybe not ever, while we both are alive 😂😂😂😂 and I don’t plan on dying anytime soon

i think they're at the point of no return now
You never know what collage students are going to do. If they continue to be careless and not follow safe guidelines, you may be correct. It will be interesting to see if they allow football when all classes go internet.

This will have no bearing on the football season, see UNC
