Carolina doesn't have Dane Bradshaw and Jordan Howell playing major minutes. They won't shoot 3-28 in a half. I now don't have to carve out time for the NIT final on my schedule. That will be ugly.

We are starting to see how much we miss Watson. We lacked anyone that would take control, calm the team down, and make a basket when we needed. The Freshmen made several mistakes, but being Freshmen isn't an excuse for missing shots. Lofton seemed non-existent tonight. Turnovers and shooting were horrible.

Carolina will destroy Butler. I've started a UNC/Gonzaga game thread in the Other Sports Forum.

Don't beat on it. That's what Butler has heard the last three games. The team with the most talent doesn't always win.

Funny how most of us was saying we would beat Butler easily...now that we got our tails kicked by them we are saying UNC will blow them out...

Actually, I said that I thought that Butler would give UT problems. Anytime you rely too much on perimeter shooting and press defense you can get into trouble against a smaller team that slows the game down and plays disciplined basketball.

Carolina will destroy Butler in the middle. UT doesn't have the personnel to do that.

Butler has yet to beat a good team, let alone one on Carolina's level. They haven't even beaten a team of Gonzaga's quality. Notre Dame will finish in the bottom third of the Big East, Indiana will finish in the middle of the pack of a bad Big 10, and Tennessee will be lucky to play .500 ball if one of the freshmen doesn't improve enough to get Jordan Howell the hell off the floor.

I don't know what was more disheartening: The number of times we couldn't finish in the paint or the complete inability to break anybody down off the dribble. Our halfcourt set degenerated into swinging it aroung the perimeter 2 or 3 times followed by a 25 foot brick.

Everybody we play will take the film of tonight's game and completely refuse to guard Howell and Bradshaw. Unless we want to give the opposition a two man power play on defense, it's time to go with the freshmen and live with their mistakes.

The tough thing is that Lofton still doesn't look like he's progressed much of the dribble so he's at the mercy of someone else being able to draw a defender. At this rate he might not get 5 open looks per game.

That was an appalling performance. Just down right raunchy, I had to turn off with 3 minutes left and I NEVER do that.

Man, we really do miss CJ. I'm disappointed in Lofton, he made a lot of bad decisions, he needs to be a leader.

And where did Jujuan go? He was money in the first 10 minutes... then disappeared.

Having more turnovers than field goals made probably isn't the most sound strategy of a victory.

Wow, just ugly. You'd like to just say it was the inexperience that showed... but the experienced Vols weren't much, if at all, better.

I don't understand why they just start blasting away 3's as opposed to working the ball inside.

It's not like we should expect anything offensively out of Howell and Bradshaw. Until the guys we recruited over them with are ready to play, we're going to have nights like this.

There was some equal opportunity bricks tonight, we missed inside, outside, foul line, etc., and the freakin' turnovers were obscene.

I dunno, Howell has a nice between-the-legs dribble...

If I had known Ramar Smith was this far from being ready, I would have pegged UT as a borderline NIT team. If the turnover problem doesn't get fixed quickly, the nonconference portion of the schedule is going to be a disaster.

Didn't see much (if any?) of Marques Johnson tonight. I thought he played pretty well at the point against MTSU (albeit, MTSU) in the only other game I've got to watch this year. The point play can't get much worse you'd think.

It's going to be a looooooong looooooooong basketball season, but Rome wasn't built in a day..
