For us to win the game( and i mean on the field, not stuff like "their bus has to break down or someone would need to spike their gatoraid with cianide").....I know, novel concept on this board, talking about a football game, but i thought i would throw it out there and see who's willing to take a stab at it.

Neal with 120 yards rushing, no turnovers on Offense, and the defense gives us 10 points

For the most part our offense can survive bama. Question is how do we fix our defense to survive any sec team?

We need to score more points than they do. In other words, we probably need to get the ball first and score a touchdown every possession to have a chance.

For Bama to play one of the worst games ever or........ bring back Peyton Manning and anyone from the '95-'97 teams or have our '98 team to show up. How about Bama playing their 2nd or 3rd string team?

Well defense speed needs to improve dramatically, along with our ability to tackle. Lining up legally on critical plays could help as well. Also can we get a kicker up in here? Along with some decent halftime motivation and a crowd that doesn't leave with 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Early in the season, I figured we'd get at least 1 upset this year considering some of the talent we have on offense. Since it hasn't happened yet, I have no choice but to assume it will be against bama or south carolina.

Here is an honest assesment BVD:
on Offense get the ball into CP's hands immediately and often. He was head and shoulders above anything MSU had and will be better against most of the people Bama will put on him. Bama unlike UF, UGA and MSU will play press man with no safety help on either CP or JH and Bray must make them pay dearly for it. That is just how Saban coaches he takes away the run and will leave his dbs on an island. Stay committed to the run our OL is legit and even when UGA went to 8 in the box we still could not be stopped. If we can force Bama to make make changes on Def. (this is not to be confused with adjustments I am talking about philosophy) then they will start to really struggle because they have not been forced to do that in two years (since the USCe game).

Defense. This is tough because Bama is very familiar with this and we have a watered down version of their D. We need to do something radical scheme wise like Chavis did to UF in 01 with the prowl. Personally I go 8 in the box with four down lineman and 4 lbs and stone the run period and force their qb to beat me. Bama is going to score but this way they are not wearing down our DEF physically. When Bama struggles to run the opposing team is in the game.

Coaching - I will repeat what I posted on another blog here "Great and good coaches will keep doing what works until the opposition consistently stops it" emphasis on consistently.

We will be in this game for 4 quarters but we will find a way to lose. Won't be surprised if we upset them but we are going to need turnovers in order to do so. I hate that we are 0-3 and staring 0-5 in the face but we have the talent to stop this #$%^ we just have to get over the hump. Win this week and we win out. Lose this week and Dooley is done!
