Vols vs. ASU Prediction

It will be close at halftime (you might even be ahead). We will finally wear you down in the 4th quarter to win a close game. Hamilton and Fulmer will claim it a major step in the right direction. Fulmer gets a contract extension.

I expect to see a 35-24 type of game. I wouldn't be surprised if we come out totally flat. I don't know very much about Arky State, but if you guys are able to run the option I can see this game being very much like the Air Force game was last year.

Vols take you anti-depression meds.

Arkansas State is the unluckiest program in the NCAA.

Get a monster crowd (our standards) for Memphis and the CUSA officials say the weather is too bad so the game gets postponed.

We miracle of miracles recover an onside kick against Texas and they take it away ruling an illegal formation. Two days later the Big XII says ooopsie got that wrong.

We finally get Ole Miss to come to our place... so its the first game played after 9/11 and the crowd is pitiful because no one cares about football.

Have a then ranked Memphis in Jonesboro, we lead need a first down to ice the game and get sacked and fumble the ball for a TD.

While I-AA score the go ahead TD on Ole Miss, oopsie inadvertent whistle try that play again fellas.

Hire Ray Perkins get a season out of him and he quits 8 days before signing day.

Have Tuberville lined up to replace Perkins and he backs out because he can't hire his own assistants because ASU can't afford to pay Perkins assistants for 11 months (just signed new contracts) and pay new assistants.

Former coach is diagnosed with prostate cancer. We tell him he's fired on Monday, he says wait till I tell the team to announce. Final game is on Thanksgiving and he still hasn't told anyone. Press release is handed to the media at the start of the 4th quarter so they can get reaction from players before they leave for the holiday. One media outlet reports (wrongly) that it was announced over the PA during the game he was fired several others write that we fired our cancer stricken coach on Thanksgiving Day. :banghead2:

If luck is a factor Saturday, this one is a blowout for the Vols.

keep in mind ark st. kept it close with texas

Also keep in mind this years Texas isnt the Texas of old, But the again neither are the Vols.

I doubt Tenn can cover the spread this week. Especially with them playing Ga next week.

Neyland Stadium may be our best player this week. Ark State players surely will be overwhelmed.

Similar as it was to Rutgers a couple years back

That was five years ago and I was there. A lot of fans started booing as the team was going to the locker room. I remember Troy Fleming waving his arms in the air as if to say, "let me hear some more."

Also, if you remember, Rutgers returned the opening kickoff for a TD.

28-24 Vols. Win isn't secure until a freak electrical storm causes the lights to go out with 2:00 minutes remaining and ASU driving for the winning TD. Fulmer claims that the storm was a "great defensive effort" and then goes on to say that the coaches will "work like heck" to get the lights fixed, but after a few hours and no progress.....the game is called. Go Vols!

Vols 27
ASU 26.5

Scorekeepers quickly decide to give UT the win to prevent a 100000+ fan riot on the field

ASU is as good as Southern Miss, if not better. Lost to Texas by 8 pts and beat SMU by 17 pts. The question is, how good is Texas and how bad is SMU. They went the distance, all four quarters without the normal meltdown that often is expected with non-bcs teams against bcs teams. A lot of question marks. I just wish Tennessee was the team that was predicted at the start of the season. Then, an ASU win would mean something.

Yep, then they recovered an onside kick.
