Vols Unranked in AP Top 25 Preseason Poll

Tennessee won seven games last year and lost their bowl game. All you have to do is start beating teams other than Kentucky and you'll be ranked. Tennessee will most likely be right after the first week of the season and then if you take care of business at Pitt....
Clayton, what team are you a fan of?

Sincere question. It's clear you're not a Vol. Just wondering who you pull for?

Just the right of disrespect this team needs. Will be playing a top 25 team in Pitt on the road. Early chance to showcase if they are legit.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Huskers ain’t going 7-5!!!
I could certainly see Nebraska winning 7 or even 8 this year. Take out the Oklahoma, Michigan and Wisconsin games, and their schedule looks hella-easy:

Northwestern ... North Dakota ... Ga Southern ... Indiana ... Rutgers ... Purdue ... Illinois ... Minnesota ... Iowa.

I mean, you don't have to be a juggernaut to get 7 or 8 wins out of that lineup.

In any case, we're not going to end OUR season playing some 7-5 or 8-4 Nebraska team in a bowl. I think we're getting a 9-3 opponent, because the conferences prefer setting up matches of teams with identical records.

Go Vols!

Arkansas could be a better team this year but have a worse record there schedule is a bear. I got them going 7-5. I think they lose to Bama, BYU, A&M, Auburn and LSU

@ Georgia from last season is replaced with South Carolina at home so the East draw is actually easier than last year. Playing @ BYU is pretty tricky though.

Those inside the program say Briles is more excited about the potential for the offense this year than he's been since he was at Baylor. The key IMO will be how the transfers on defense do - Drew Sanders from Alabama, Dwight McGlothern from LSU, Latavius Brini from Georgia - all three started games for those programs last year which you don't normally see out of incoming transfers. Plus Jalen Catalon is finally healthy again after missing most of last year. Biggest concern for me is the DL.

Think back to your NCAA tournament disappointment earlier this year.

It is far more entertaining as a fan to be in this position for at least two reasons. Let's assume you finish Top 10. So either you had lower expectations and were pleasantly surprised, or you feel that your team was disrespected and when you end up Top Ten you feel vindicated.

Far better than starting off at the top and fearing that almost inevitable "shouldn't-have-lost-that-one" demise. With one or two exceptional years, how miserable and downbeaten must UGA fans have felt the last 15 years, particularly in the Richt era?

That's just because Mark Richt lost control

Let’s see where we are at the end of September. Hopefully 4-0 and ranked. But we have to take care of business.

What gets me is all the love they have for Kentucky. I’m starting to dislike them as much as Florida

Stoops has them in the top half of the pack. They’ve been to bowl games six years in a row and have won their last four bowl games. Given their schedule, I’d say they finish in the top 25 and go bowling again. As others have noted, they can just show up and go 6-6.

Absolutely agreed that they can easily go 6-6.

I just don't see how they can get much beyond that. I mean, here are the other 6 they gotta try to find a win against:
  • Georgia
  • Tennessee
  • Ole Miss
  • Florida
  • Mississippi State
  • South Carolina
So, absolutely can see them getting to 6 wins. Just don't see them getting to 9.

Kentucky is 8-4 at best this year, and the bloom falls off this media rose.

Go Vols!

Don't care where we start. It's where we finish that concerns me.

Georgia is a definite loss, but they have a decent chance in the other 5.
