Can someone please explain the Ole Miss love to me? I don’t get it. Also, do people really think Arkansas is that much better than us? They play in a tougher division and also have a very difficult OOC schedule. What about them is so great? I’m starting to think that voters really like Sam Pittman as a person and that influences their votes.
Reported for bringing facts into this discussion.I think they get the benefit of the doubt because they're Notre Dame, but I wouldn't exactly call them irrelevant.

I would offer Texas or USC as better examples of programs that always get a Top 25 nod and fall into "irrelevance." Even Michigan as an example of a program that starts 6-0 or highly ranked and falls off.
They got some good pieces in the portal. Zach Evans especially…but it could a rough year. I think Lane is crafty enough to get at least 7 wins which will not have any Ole Miss fans calling for his exit.So the answer about Ole Miss is that it’s all speculation. They lost almost all of their big names, including Corrall.
Arkansas beat Texas (5-7) Penn State (7-6) and what should have been a (7-5) aTm team. Impressive in name only. I’m not complaining about not being in the top 25, I was just wondering why people have a high opinion of Ole Miss in particular, and why people think Arkansas is that much further ahead of us, especially given their schedule.
None of those were bad losses. All were potentially winnable but none were bad.NEWS FLASH!!! We don't deserve to be ranked! We were not very good last year and had bad losses to UF, Pitt, Ole Miss and Purdue in the bowl game. UT should've beaten all of those teams if they were a Top 25 level team. UT will simply have to PROVE they belong. Which is 100% alright with me
The Portal King is definitely Lane’s moniker now. He’s added some good pieces, but it has to be tough to get all those guys in there and on the same page learning new schemes, especially w/ a new OC. You’re right, he’ll be crafty enough to get them to 7 or 8.They got some good pieces in the portal. Zach Evans especially…but it could a rough year. I agree that they play a weak schedule, but that’s how I figure they get to 9-10 wins. Trust me, i didn’t forget about them. They’ve been my #1 target all off-season.Did you miss Kentucky? They probably play the weakest schedule in the East and the out of conference schedule includes nobody's plus Louisville who can generally be a nobody. They are the one team we consistently beat.
"Bad" wasnt a good use by me. IOW... We would have plenty of ranking love IF we won those games. They were very winnable, but we just werent quite good enough. Thats why we arent ranked preseason, IMO. Gotta EARN it and we just didnt do enough.None of those were bad losses. All were potentially winnable but none were bad.
WF will not win 6 games now!Vols are #26.
With respect to Wake Forest, anyone ranking them in the Top 25 now that their quarterback is out of commission does not deserve a vote going forward.
Vols will probably jump to #24 after week one, setting up a ranked matchup with Pitt provided they don't lose the Backyard Brawl. Win in Pittsburgh and the Vols should be Top 15 heading into the Florida game.
USC was #1 on the list of under achiever’s last 15 yrs. There was actually a pole. Texas was 3rd.I think they get the benefit of the doubt because they're Notre Dame, but I wouldn't exactly call them irrelevant.
