Vols Trivia

When did Randy Sanders call his first game as the OC at UT?

Bonus: Who scored the first TD under his system(in that game)?

Randy Sanders' first game as OC was the 1999 Fiesta Bowl that served as the inaugural BCS Championship game

His first TD was a 4 yd TD pass from Tee Martin to Shawn Bryson

What nationally televised Vols game was interrupted for over 10 minutes with a stray dog on the field running touchdowns as the crowd were cheering and the bands were playing their fight songs?

What year did the Vols play Alabama and Florida on back to back Saturdays in Neyland Stadium and beat both teams by a combined score of 62-7? Who were the coaches for UT, Bama, and Florida?

When was the last time UT recorded back to back shutouts in games? And who were the opponents?

Cincinnati & LSU in 1992?

That is a good question

Should of known it was UK and Vandy in 94

52-0 Uk
65-0@ vandy

This is off topic from the thread, but I am glad I never watched TN vs Memphis or Florida from 1996. Just reading the boxscores makes the blood pressure rise.

Hey, I was right! It was before Chavis. He took over in 1995. Who was our defensive coordinator in 94? Marmie?

Has to be before Chavis. He could not shut out the Sisters of the Poor.

Actually, you're both wrong here (sorry). It was 2002 against UK and Vandy, both games were 24-0 (someone earlier had already gotten it right as well)

...so yeah that makes it during Chavis's tenure here

I need to correct this statement. it is wrong.

I over looked rankings in 1979. things like this happen when one ages :)

Ole Miss loss on Nov 17th 1979 knocked them out of rankings and they were not ranked again until 1985 win over Auburn.

apologize for mistake

Thanks. So we need to be ranked within 2-3 years to avoid flirting with that record. We CANNOT set a new record like that during the EB/Fulmer/Kiff/Dooley era. Let's go!!

They beat AL 24-0, and FL 38-7 in 1970. The coaches for UT were Bill Battle, AL was Bear Bryant and FL was Doug Dickey.

BUT, he was not the defensive coordinator so technically I am correct since this was pre-mustang package.

what? no he was, so you're not correct

he was our defensive coordinator back in 1998 so I promise you he was still defensive coordinator in 2002

He was UT's DC from 1995 until 2008

I know that the Bear was not yelling Bingo that afternoon. It seemed that Scott Hunter completed more passes to Vol defensive backs than to Bama receivers.

The UF game had to be one of the loudest games in NCAA history as traitor Dickey, John Reeves (Layla's Daddy) and Carlos Alverrez had a really bad time in Knoxville.

You are correct!

That Alabama-UT game was the last time that both teams wore their home jerseys in a game. I remember how they stood out against a perfect blue sky. Gorgious day especially with the shutout

What was the longest TD pass in UT history? Who threw it, who caught it, and what game was it during?

Versus Georgia 2003 in Knoxville. # 7 to # 10 for 90 Yards. think it all happened before the goal line fumble that was returned for TD by Georgia but could be wrong on that. seems it was in first half

correct. yes it was first half. great catch too (wish I could find a picture) but you've got to give me who made the throw and who made the catch too :p
