Vols trending Down (247 article)

Couple of things stuck out in the article. One the expectations for Jones weren't real high to begin with, which they weren't. No fan i know was jumping for joy with the hire. It was another hire that you had to say. "Well maybe he'll do a good job"

The other one was this is Jones first power 5 job. Dooley and Jones back to back have been very underwhelming hires. I don't want to hear that they're all Tennessee could get. They brought in Kifturd and his band of goons for a hefty price tag.. They've went the cheap conservative route on the last two hires and you get exactly what you pay for. Except they should get a refund on Doofus's time here. He clearly wasn't worth the money they were paying him.. Jones's has done a better job , but he's pretty much what everyone thought he would be. So that's the problem. They want big results will hiring people that suggest otherwise. Bottom line is, they're fine taking your money if you keep giving it to them. It's like continuing to pay someone for failing at their job. They're only going to change it when the stands empty out and that's pretty much it.

No, I'm saying the article expresses sentiments of ALOT of people.

No way he's fired this year or next. Buyout is waaaaay to high!

I wouldn't count on that. Currie may have been brought in just for that, to raise enough new money to cover a coaching change. I just hope he brings in enough money to hire a proven winner. If we spend all our new money on the one leaving, then we are back to making a thrifty hire again.

I think CBJ will put the pieces and all the ones that want him gone will have to keep waiting.

that's an assumption that the only thing those people want is CBJ Fired, when the reality is, what we want is for this program to be successful.

two different things. and personally, i just don't like CBJ. his personality rubs me the wrong way.

but to say i "want" him gone, is only accurate if you include the reason why...which is if he's not successful.

i don't have to like him to root for him. he's our coach, and i want him to be successful for this program. but if he's not, the i want him to go. period.

Since Currie has been brought in, I find myself pulling even harder for Butch to do well, kinda feel for him despite my concerns with his gameday management and communication skills. I really hope Butch can turn a corner this year and surprise with a true, overachieving, highly successful season.....it'll mean my favorite team is doing very well and that Currie won't have to hire a new football coach.

Right again. For the most our HC is irrelevant as long as they run a clean program win championships and don't embarrass UT.

There are a few that are done with him and are waiting on the day he leaves UT.

To split hairs, I believe you have always been pulling all out for CBJ. Because he is our HC.

I'm not looking for overachieving, I'm looking for him to set a high standard that we can expect year after year.

This business of losing to teams that are inferior has to stop. I don't care if they are up and we are down, stop losing to them.

Gimmie games are expected to be boring and to get our youngsters some experience.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be fine to fill the schedule with quality P5 teams and take our lumps as long as we are playing to our potential, sometimes a good team gets beat by another good team. When we take a loss from an inferior team, it's hard to call us a good team.

Agree with all that for sure. Just saying that we'll not be picked to win much of anything this year, certainly not the SECe. So I hope we "overachieve" and win it this year, that'd be great. As far Butch setting a high standard, don't hold your breath..... sure seems to be all good with getting to and winning middle of the road bowl games.

Wouldn't it be awesome if it were like the '98 season when no one really expected anything since Peyton was gone? Or, like Florida the past three years?

Maybe Butch has been holding back so that we, as fans, don't become spoiled!

it was 20 years ago. now we're starting to sound like GA fans talking about 1980 and Herschel.
