I don't think i've even been more pumped for Tennessee Basketball than I am this year.

How did Tenn go from a Football Powerhouse to a Basketball Powerhouse seemingly overnight? Why can't it be both?

Calling Tennessee a Basketball Powerhouse is a bit of an exaggeration.

What have they done to be called a powerhouse?

They are building a powerhouse in Knoxville. We are getting huge hype around the league with Pearl and with the players we have on this team. We are actually attracting players with great talent to this University. Granted we have had some decent talent before but now these guys want to come play for Bruce and we are just going to get that much better year end and year out. I hope Hamilton gives BP a huge contract so he never leaves.

We are more of a powerhouse in basketball than football. Hell our football team is not even the the best team in our state, and we would probably get beat by Memphis and Middle Tennessee State.

No. We are not.

Uh, yes we are. We won the SEC Title in basketball last year and should be the favorites this year. Our football team I think is the worst in the SEC. Like it or not we suck in football and our basketball team is getting better every year. What a difference a good coach will make. :banghead2:

So winning the SEC title outright for the first time in 40 plus years qualifies as being a powerhouse? That's really the only accomplishment they have so far.

Don't get me wrong, I love the basketball program and have enjoyed attending several games since Bruce came in. But don't get carried away with thinking the basketball program is overtaking the football program in anything.

Historically the answer is obvious. But if you look at the last 10 years even the basketball team has had greater success.

7 NCAA Tourny's in 10 years, 3 sweet 16's and 3 conference titles.

Even with Buzz and Jerry that's better than football.

I was wondering when we would pop up on the countdown. I can't wait to see newcomers Maze and Hopson. They seem to be very promising and should fit very well with Bruce's scheme. And for those who think Prince will be disappointing this year, tune in early - you will change your mind in a hurry. Tyler is gonna be a beast this year, as he was last.

Do the words national relevance mean anything to you? THe UT football program is like seeing an awesome old muscle car rusting in a field somewhere. You know how great it once was. You know how great it could be again. As of right now though , it is just a crying shame.

We are definitely not a powerhouse but we have done just as much in basketball than football. Since 1998 football has no SEC championships and basketball won the SEC championship outright last year. You will see in time that we are gonna be a basketball school as long as CPF is at the helm.

Funny you should say that. We are far, far more relevant nationally in football than basketball, regardless of the slop they are putting on the field this year.
