Vols going retro: The UT football team plans to wear white throwback jerseys from the Condredge Holloway era in its Sept. 4 opener against UNLV.

" We already have approval from the conference, " Hamilton said. " The only other thing is getting (UNLV Athletics Director) Mike Hamrick to sign off on it. They would wear their red jerseys. I don’t expect any problem. "

Hamilton said the Vols’ throwback jerseys would have the orange trim across the top of the shoulders with orange numerals. He said they will also wear the pants they wore from that year with an orange stripe down the side.

In keeping with the retro theme, all Tennessee football lettermen will be invited back that weekend for a football family reunion. The former players will have a function on Friday, go through the Vol Walk with the current players on Saturday and be recognized at the game.

Sounds cool. That is from the same Tennessean article I posted before.

I like the orange pants! Except it seems like the last time we wore them we played really bad. Memphis I think it was.

It wasn't the pants...it was that @#$@#*& referee who didn't call that Memphis guy down on that kickoff return.

i was at my frined's wedding the day of that memphis game....his bride got so mad because nobody was interested in the wedding....we were all going out to the parking lot to listen to it on the radio....then when it was over, it pretty much ruined the reception

I think the year we wore orange pants was a home game. Seems like it was Tee Martin who completed a long pass on the last drive and we scored for the win. I think that was 1999 but I am not positive.

I wouln't even bring up that game we lost in 96. :yikes: :D

I've been through that too. You'd think people would figure out that nobody wants to spend a Saturday in the Fall at a weddingl!?!?

My all time low came when my sister got married the night of the 2000 Georgia game. We promised my Mom that we wouldn't watch the game, but then at the last minute my DSS dish mysteriously jumped off my house and ended up set up in front of the reception hall stuck on a piece of rebar between two stolen concrete blocks.

That's hilarious GAVOL. That sounds like something I would do. These people who schedule weddings during football season need to get their priorities in order.

Wives come and go but college football is forever!  <just kidding>

My wife was in a wedding at 2:00 the day of the 1996 UF - FSU game. Since I was sitting by myself, I brought in my little 2" TV and watched the game in Church.

Is that a sin

My wife was :censored: :censored: :censored:

Not at all. I watched a Tennessee football game instead of going to a funeral :(

I like the orange pants with the white jerseys. The all orange, even with the orange shoes, circa 1986, is pretty bad. LOL

I HATE the all-blue the Gators have been wearing. CFN even was calling us the Florida Fighting Blue-Berries. :D
