Vols to stop wearing Smokey Grey unis...

I thought the Gray uniforms were pretty sharp and I’ve always preferred white cleats. Black cleats just make a team look slow and lumbering.

I'm not going to tell people what they should or shouldn't do on gameday. It’s their time and their money. Yet, as I have said before and was stated previously, there are many who attend games as a mere social event. It's all about being seen and telling all of their friends and coworkers on Monday about going to the game. Winning the game is just a bonus if it happens. That’s why there can be talk of raising ticket prices after a historic losing season.

Would have made an interesting episode of Seinfeld.

That's BS and you know it. The fans know who the guys are by their numbers. You can barely even see the names much less read them.

I don't know every player by number. There are like 85 of them and they change every 3-4 years. I rely on the names on the jerseys.

If they don't have a practical purpose, wtf would nearly every team have jersey names?

I got one question in all this; If the Smokey Greys are going away, WTH are they letting recruits put them on for twitter pics? Sorry but I ain't buying this guys talk.

Kind of happy to see the greys go. Not gonna complain about the black cleats, though I did think the white/orange ones looked really sharp.

Yeah, it's your place to tell other fans what to like and tell your elders... many of whom had to listen to John ward on the radio when they couldn't be in Neyland (tv wasnt out yet) ...that they shouldn't attend games because they dont act like you. What a self important, self centered douchebag. Why don't you justv worry about yourself, your tickets, and your donations to Ut...and mind your own dang business. Your parents should have raised you to respect your elders. Either they failed or youbwere too dumb to learn.

By the way, i am only 40. I just respect my elders, Vol fans in general, and other people who don't mistreat others. I am not sure yuou are any of the 3, and i have no respect for you based on your me-I -me I-Oh attitude and lack of decency towards others. I have seen several posters I respect call you out for your bad attitude here. Quit being a moron. If you said that same stupid crap above to my parents, wife, kids, grandparents, etc...I would show you exactly why you shouldn't disrespect others. The hard way.

To sum it up:

"I'm a man. I'm 40. I'm great and you're not. I'm respectful, just not to you.'

I like the idea of being more traditional. Smokeys were OK once a year, but im not going to die from them never wearing them again.

It was a Butch gimmick thing so I can see the current admin wanting to move on. I never loved them but got used to/accepted them. Actually liked the Nike helmet. Ultimately I won’t miss them.In fact, had I not seen this thread or article I may not have noticed we weren’t wearing them.

I do hope Checker Neyland continues since it was an organic new tradition started by fans and not just a marketing gimmick.

The names are there because the kids want them. I guess if you are watching on TV you may catch a glimpse of who the kid is occasionally by the name but I rely more on the numbers. If you are in the stadium, only about the first 10 rows can see them anyway and that is on a limited basis also. If you are at home you can print a roster.

Oh I see, you paid more for your seat than they did. You need to get out of the glitzy section. Where we sat people were loud, watched the game and treated each other with respect. Pretty sure we would toss you over the rail.

That is not the point. One of them made the person that was with me feel bad about standing up - then moved in front of us when they saw the seats would be empty. And then never even showed an interest in watching what was happening on the field. Why complain, make a big deal out of someone standing for the opening kickoff, say "I can't see" then ignore the game?

Respect works both ways.

Just none of the orange on orange as mentioned in the article.

Orange on white or Storm Trooper FTW.

I love the orange on orange!! I can't remember the last time I saw them wear it, so I guess I'm in the minority.

Have we ever had Smokey grey cleats? I’d like to see us stick with traditional unis, but have grey cleats with orange trim.

Confirmed by Chris Low.....Lame
