Vols to receive official visit from Skal Labissiere

Not having any luck so far remembering where I read a few days ago that Skal would be making an official visit, but I remember how pleased I was that we might be landing some great in-state talent. I believe Donnie will go all out to get him. When I can remember the source, I'll post it.

Yeah I saw it somewhere as well....This kid may end up in Europe for a year....Let's not get excited on this one....No telling where this will go....

Not all states have the same homeschool laws.

Tennessee had a rule like that as late as two years ago...A friend homeschooled and his son wrestled for the high school in his district....Not at all unusual...we homeschooled 15 years ago and ours have graduated and moved on so I'm not up on the latest rules...

I was not arguing that tennessee kids couldn't do it. I'm not sure either way. I was just pointing out that all states are different, so what applied to Tebow in Florida doesn't apply across all of US by default.

Also, it might be a moot point since if TSSAA declares him ineligible because of transferring I can't see them changing their minds if he suddenly decided to be homeschooled.

Kid's guardian messed this one up bad. He's shopping him around town trying to "get his foundation funded". Stuff like this gets done all the time, problem is he is clueless and made way too much noise. As of now he has nowhere to play ball his senior year, and getting cleared to play college ball isn't gonna be easy.

That's sad if that's what's going on. Might just be better to go overseas and play.

I see what you're saying now. I just used Tebow as an example because I was pretty sure Tennessee and Florida had a similar system in place for homeschooled kids, and I don't know any kids in Tennessee that are currently homechooled to use as examples. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah I don't know what homeschool would change. If he's not eligible it's likely because he changed schools without moving. Not sure what enrolling in home school would do. Sounds like this kid has a handler.

No worries. I probably should have explained myself better in the first place.

His foundation is all about giving foreign kids opportunities, and he can't even have a kid registered for high school on August 21st. It's pitiful. He could go overseas but he won't make 1.2 million like Mudiay, he's still rail thin and would be pushed around all day by grown men, and you have to wonder how that would affect draft stock.

There is only one way the Vols should get involved with Skal. His handler must relinquish all involvement. I have seen some shady characters on the basketball circuit but he is at the top. While in Vegas he enrolled Skal in Lausanne without Skal's knowledge. Now the TSSAA is very involved. Was at a function last night and learned that he is now considering home school for the kid. Wherever he lands he will do all he can to be a power broker. CDT may be able to handle that but these things have always been trouble.

Honestly with Woodson here, the only way I may say take him is if he decides to EE and can come this year, otherwise let him end up at Memphis and be a cancer there. Going into next year with Woodson, Carmichael and Owens is enough for me in the post, and with Woodson having some issues I could see problems with his mentor and Skal's.

I'd rather not have anyone like this handler anywhere near UT. Seems like he'd draw the NCAA like roadkill draws crows. No thanks.

eta: Seems a shame for the kid. :ermm:

It would be great to have his talent but I have to agree with you guys he may not be worth the headache for being a one year rental.

Looks like Jarnell is trying to put in a good word for us

Jarnell Stokes ‏@JarnellStokes 5h

Every kid should be able to play his senior year. How can grown men prevent a kid from bettering himself? Prayers go out to my guy Skal.

Not only did I lose my senior yr for transferring INTO my district, but my brother at age 13 also got ruled ineligible for 2 yrs straight.

Thankfully both Southwind & Tennessee embraced me when I needed it most. 01/14/12 is the day I overcame a very sad situation.

Skal finally got officially enrolled at Lausanne today. They may try to appeal the decision, but it's already widely known he will not be eligible to play his senior season. He already missed his junior season due to a back injury. Should have just stayed at ECS and finished out his senior year, but ECS didn't want to "cooperate" with his guardian. Damn guardian would rather screw over his own kid than be humbled. Hate it for Skal, everyone talks about how nice and happy he always is, just another example of grown men throwing innocent kids under the bus to make a few bucks.

Well after he turns 18 that guy is no longer his guardian . I started following him on twitter , he seems to be doing a lot of deep thinking . He keeps making comments about "thinking long term" and "people being around him just to get something from him" and "people talking bout stuff they don't know " . So it's hard to say what he is thinking right now . Maybe him and Jarnell strike up a friendship over similar experiences

He's from Haiti, feels a loyalty to the guardian because he brought him here after the earthquake destroyed his home, he lives with the guardian, and on twitter a day or two ago told everyone to back off his guardian because he trusted him 100%. He's too sweet and naive, and you know the guardian is sucking up to the kid 24/7 hoping that he makes a ton of money in the nba and writes him a check one day. Basically everyone who's knows Hamilton thinks he's an embarrassment, everyone but Skal.

It's been either Memphis or Kentucky for a while. Ole Miss tried to buy their way I'm but it didn't work out, North Carolina is trying to get in now but fighting too much of an uphill battle. Tennessee doesn't have much of a real shot here. It's also not guaranteed he'll qualify. Not sure if his guardian has done anything yet to make him ineligible, but he's sure trying.
