Vols taking 2 QBs in 2012?

You have to drop Blanc if we take another QB imo. Our spots are limited as it is, and we need more DE's and DT's. However, I dont mind taking another QB if we can make room for one.

I had lunch with a guy who coached Blanc all the way up from the time he was 9 years old.

He said, "Look, he's 6'2" 190lbs and runs a legit 4.34 40, I saw it with my own eyes. He has no idea how good he is. He'll absolutely play at UT."

The guy I was talking to was a high major prospect coming out of high school so I'm more than comfortable taking his word for it on football talent. Moral of the "cool story, bro" is stars don't necessarily mean everything.

Maybe so and I hope its true, but if its true about Dooley wanting to take another QB then I dont see what you do to make room. Dropping Blanc is just my best guess.

I guess my question, and I agree with your logic, is what position are we absolutely in need of an injection of speed? If you guessed DB, you'd be correct. I'm not saying a white kid from Knoxville is that answer, but speed is hard to find.

That is true, and we're in need of speed at the DB position. I like local talents, and I hope he'll have success here at Tennessee if he does indeed sign with Tennessee in February.

Peterman is all we need. I would take the top QB in FL and call it a day every year. Go get studs in other postions with the rest.

I am sick of this stuff agains Blanc. Generally the same dudes saying the same stuff last year about taking DY and Tugboat. Stargazers that can't analyze on their own. Where would special teams be without DY? Tugboat is your future NT and can move the pile. Blanc is your future safety. Cut the racist stuff out. Dude can fly, has size, covers well and hits hard. He was good enough for VA Tech before he cut his recruitment off with UT's offer.

I never mentioned stars nor his race. Which would be a little odd considering im white anyways? Point being, it was only a guess as to how we would make room to bring in another QB if that is indeed true. Not knock against Blanc. And one more thing, I never had one negative thing to say regarding D. Young, he's an electrifying player and I recognized from watching his games and film. I always knew how good he would turn out at the college level.

i think we don't take another qb in this class, BUT if we were to take one, i'd want a Dual-Threat QB. At least we'd know they can get 1 yard, unlike Simms.

Did anyone else hear Dooley say in his presser today that UT already has one (committed) and will take another QB in this class?

I could be way off here, but I thought that is what I heard.

I believe we have been done at QB ever since Peterman committed. I would even be very surprised if we were to go after Kiel because it might would endanger our relationship with Peterman, who the staff likes very much and appears to be a very solid and talented recruit for us. It would just not be worth the risk.

I found it - he did say it, but I took it out of context a bit:

I don't like losing, so I believe you are going to recruit every year and we are going to sign another quarterback - we've got one committed.

I interpret that to mean that the one committed (Peterman) is the one we sign, hopefully. I don't see it as 2 QBs.

Could be read both ways as stated. That said, I can't see us taking another one unless it's an unexpected very highly rated QB which seems unlikely.

I don't like taking two QBs in a class, seemed to always cause Fulmer issues. I'd rather take one QB every year like we're doing now.

kiel obviously would be my first choice, but neal burcham is a definite sleeper in this class, and we could get him no problem.

There is probably a recruit Dooley knows he's not going to get and perhaps a QB recruit he is sure to get.

That quote reads more like; we need to take a QB in every class and we have one committed for this class. Not that we are going to take two in this class.

Go back and watch. And yeah its not hard to tear our secondary up, they couldn't keep up with a sloth running down the field.

You know absolutely nothing about football. Our pass rush has been HORRENDOUS all year!!! Dooley says same
