Vols sold out music city bowl allotment

Be prepare to be hauled away in a straight jacket with that statement! :loco::):p

yeah I know but I couldnt agree more with your statement. I dont care if we're 12-0 or 0-12, I will always support the Orange. My loyalty isnt determined by Ws and Ls. And to see them play and equally storied program is icing on the cake.

Why are people upset over people attending this game? 2 historic programs, why wouldn't it be well attended?

I think there are different reasons, some I understand.

But why any of them feel the need to criticize the others with stupidly, is beyond me.

IMO, some people are associating attending the MCB as confirmation to the UTAD that all is well.

Butch is one hell of a self-promoter and I assume many fear he'll use that to get a raise, extension, or both.

Awesome comeback, I mean you put so much thought into it that I now know why you are a moderator now.

Cracks me up that Bc I have a different opinion about this crappy bowl, then I am trolling. I am possibly one of the most diehard fans there is. But, that doesn't mean I have to accept this BS season where we lost to two of the worst teams in the league. It's a colossal letdown and my way of protesting it, is by not spending any more money on TN Athletics til either I see improvement, or at least an attempt to try and improve i.e. assistant coaching changes, or they make a head coach change.

So as far as y'all that are trying to be cute with your cut downs, **** YOU!!!

So you are only going to support them if they are winning? That is pretty die hard if you ask me?

He should get an extension and raise by winning the MCB. Rework the buyout and let him know that a contract is just a way to settle the money if 2017 is a bust. If he wants to stay at Tn he needs to stop losing to Vandy and Bama while winning the east. Winning the east opens the door for an SEC Championship and a shot at the playoffs and a NC.

Expectations are so subjective due to no 1 win or loss defines the season but each game has such a way of shaping the success of a season even if a NC happens or not.

Beat Nebraska!

Coaches get fired after raises and extensions. Coach Fulmer says hi.

That's why I said I understand. But it's the rest of it you left out that I have an argument with.:)

Yeah...that was a great move by the UTAD. I get the fear in the fanbase as the UTAD has made a decade of bad choices across all major sports.

Just shows you that majority of fans are ok with mediocrity...

No. These seniors and upperclassmen who will be declaring have worked their tails off. Injuries and bad coaching decisions don't fall squarely on their shoulders. We should send them out the right way. Best of luck to the guys who will be playing on Sundays and the ones who will be in the job market! Thanks for the memories!

Some have trouble separating their dislike of the coaching staff. Which is sad. I view this level of bowl game as a graduation/celebration of sorts for the Seniors. Would you boycott your kid's graduation celebration because of the location or because you disliked Dr. Cheek or any school official? I don't think so. They can ***** if they want, but why criticize and belittle those that are going?

I am upset with the direction of the team but I am going for 4 reasons. I live 3 hours from Knoxville but only 30 min from Nashville so that makes it easy. I was able to get 3 tickets where my season tickets I only have 2 and I have 2 boys so I have to pick one now I can take both. Third they have never been to a bowl game. And fourth- I support the team and I want to see them play Nebraska.

Per my niece and her family who live near the stadium, they are nearing sellout. They picked up seats for them and my brothers.

You misconstrue what I am meaning, I have cheered on the team during the lean years and the championship years. What am saying is, the only way that we 're gonna get it through the AD/Presidents heads about not accepting mediocrity in their hiring is by withholding our financial support. Until we do that, they will continue to think we accept the 9-4 seasons, which last year was great and this year not so much.

Yes I am angry about he failure of this past season and yes it perturbed me to no end that fans are excited about a MCB. I should have refrained from commenting but I didn't. But I will Always cheer on the players, even if I don't like the coaches.

Folks are going to continue to support a winning football team and last I checked winning 8 games out of 12 = a winning football team.

Some of you act like this team has a losing record - far from it. In fact out of the 14 SEC teams they are tied with 4 other teams with the second most wins (8) this year. It has been a very strange year not only in the SEC but across all conferences.

If all you want is more wins than losses, then by all means, be happy about this year. Some of us want to challenge for Titles/Championships, ex East Title and SEC Championship. We also don't want to lose to SC and Vandy. There is a huge difference in our 8-4 this year than last. We had the talent to be 11-1 or 10-2 and East Champions and SEC Game participants. This season is a failure and to add insult to injury, no pun, losing to Vandy cost us the prestigious Sugar Bowl and now we are in the Damn MCB. So yes, not happy with 8-4 this year.

This is from the Outback bowl last year.

The Volunteers still may be playing a de facto home game in the Outback Bowl in Tampa on New Year's Day.

Ticket sales again are strong for a Tennessee bowl game, and though there may not be a repeat of last year's TaxSlayer Bowl, when the orange-clad droves overtook Jacksonville, it may be pretty close.

Chris Fuller, Tennessee's associate athletic director for external operations, said Friday that Tennessee quickly sold its initial ticket allotment and has requested more from the Outback Bowl in the last two weeks.

"One of the things that's changed quite a bit is how the ticket allocations work for the bowl games, certainly since we were down there the last time for the 2008 game," Fuller said in a phone interview. "The initial allocation was 8,000. We have gone back a couple of times. I think the total that we've taken and accounted for right now is 12,000."

And that's just the tickets sold through Tennessee.

Many fans have gone directly to the Outback Bowl to purchase tickets for the game against Northwestern, and Tennessee again should have a decided fan advantage at the 65,890-seat stadium, which is the home of the NFL's Tampa Bay Bucs.

Then by all means stay at home for the bowl game and don't attend games next year. That is your choice, but stop belittling us fans that plan to continue to support this team as well as ALL Tennessee athletes by continuing to purchase season tickets and attend the football games.

It should tell you something that Tennessee is playing basically a home game against another power 5 team and the allotment of tickets was ONLY 8000. They basically expected no one to show.

Our basketball team could sell more tickets.
