I still cant give coaching an A. Again, we came out flat to start the game. Also, some of the run game deficiency has to be attributed to coaching/play calling

Why the C+ on special teams? I would give them an A, the only miscue I can think of being the dropped punt snap

The 12 men on the field coming out of a timeout automatically disqualifies and A for the coaches. That could have been a Crusher.

Id give the running backs a C. Its not like they were ineffective there was really no attempt to establish a running game They did their jobs in other ways, blocking running routes etc. Actually nah forgot the fumble keep the D. In hindsight OPs grades are pretty much on point. We won and they made great halftime adjustments the biggest playing JG. thats an A no matter what else.

Not my grades, rather 247s. I wouldn't give coaching an A, or DL a B+, both are too high IMHO.

A+ for grinding out the win A+ for the mental side.
But how do you give B+ across the board on defense that gave up 300 yards rushing on defense?
A+ for JG, would have thought that? But as much criticism he’s got, he deserves praise for rescuing the offense Saturday.

DLine I think did a great job especially against that type of offense. Let us be real against that kinda wildcat/spread/option crap the best you can expect out of a dline is to not look terrible. We run a 3-4 Bituli putting up the stats he did means the dline did their job. In a 3-4 for the most part, outside of pass-rushing the job of the line is to clog lanes and keep LB's clean. The lbs are the guys that get the stats in that scheme. Did we get a sack against a team that attempted what 8 passes? Yup good job. we got over 30 tackles from our inside linebackers. If we had a bunch of DB's in double-figure tackles that means the DL failed.

Like I said with coaching we won and its was mostly because of halftime adjustments. holding an offense of that type to 13 points is impressive believe it or not.

300 rushing isn’t terrible considering that’s all they did the whole game. They had some new wrinkles in their playbook, and Bowden is an absolute stud. Coaches and defense did a good job adjusting at half and shutting it down pretty well.

I think the dropped snap leading to a blocked punt which was turned into a TD is a pretty big knock on the special teams. When it comes to the the coaching; the type of chaotic flexbone style option running attack that KY is running with Bowden at QB is difficult to prepare for. I don't even he knows who is going to have the ball until the very last second. With players running in multiple directions and any one of them potentially having the ball, the defense gets spread out. They figured it out well enough that the kept them from scoring for most of the game.

Especially going back the last 5 games Kentucky played.. They had a lot of rushing yards on every team they played with Bowden at QB.. I believe TN actually held KY to the least average yards per carry than the previous 5..hard to believe looking at the game stats..
