Vols replace Nebraska (wusses) with Georgia Tech

I know it’s a rivalry game, but I’d say them going into 100 overtimes in Athens was pretty impressive . At worst it was a lateral move competitively, although GT doesn’t have the history and name recognition of Nebraska . They’ve improved a great deal the past 2 seasons after they got away Butch 2.0.
GT is Top 25 all time in wins. They have several really old nattys and like us have 1 natty since full integration.

I would agree on the lateral move part. Was just looking forward to playing Nebraska I guess.
I was too. I would like to have gone to the game. I’m just glad it wasn’t directional state U and that the game is actually on GT’s campus . If it were at MB I would’ve been let down.

blech - home and home with "the dirty dawg knee cappers" instead of Nebraska after they got scared and bought us out. At least its close and might give us a chance to beat an barely top 25 team early.

In 2026 and 2027, Tennessee will be playing a home and home with Georgia Tech as the replacement opponent for the Nebraska series that was dropped by the Cornhuskers back in February.

Tennessee will play in Atlanta against the Yellowjackets in September 12, 2026 and Georgia Tech will make a trip to Neyland Stadium on September 11, 2027.

Tennessee fills schedule hole with home and home against Georgia Tech

Im grateful they were able to fill it with someone other than a cupcake reasonably early so we can get to the top of the charts early.

I just still have a bad taste from back in 2017 when we barely beat them and left us with a bunch of injuries. I know they don't do triple option anymore but betcha they are still a chop blocking bunch of sobs.

But for the chop blocking, otherwise, I like G-tech as a school.
Gotta say....this brings back some bad memories/juju.

Dang. Was hoping for Notre Dame. Traveling to Atlanta when we already play at Georgia every other year is lame

I love this. Considering what the replacement could have been, this is great. Tech is a program on the rise. It being in ATL for recruiting purposes ain’t bad either. I’m confused on the disdain from some of yall. Were you expecting it to be Miami or something? Chill. It’s a great option considering the weak dropout by the cornhuskers

GT is gonna be very good by then. They are recruiting really well and have a fantastic coach. This will end up being a much sexier game than Nebraska.

And for those of you having bad memories about getting beat up last time we played GT… well, fellas what N did to us in those two fiesta bowls still causes me trauma.

I like it. Rich history with a traditional old school opponent. TN has probably faced GT more than any other not in the classic 10 SEC schools.

I’d like to see GA Tech improve enough to someday be a target for SEC expansion. Georgia doesn’t want that to happen. I dislike GA more than any other school. So eff the clowns from Athens.

I’d like to get UCLA and Notre Dame back on the future schedules too. It probably doesn’t happen with UCLA anytime soon though now that they have to play 4 or 5 distant away games in the B10.

But GT needs to not have injuring opposing players in their playbook.

I think we could get Notre Dame tho. Maybe. Unless they continue to settle for losing for non-power 5 schools instead of losing to decent teams and getting thrashed by us. GBO

I wonder how many cars will be broken into in College Park. I suggest taking duct tape and a couple of industrial strength plastic bags to cover the window for the ride home.
It’s a lovely area

I think that their formula is to have USC and no more than one losable game on their schedule each season. They probably don’t want to face TN unless USC and Purdue are expected to have garbage teams. They’ll be shut out of the playoffs with 3 loses and possibly 2 unless the field expands to 16 or more.

Someone please explain to me what a Power Four team is and how GT is one. They are ACC and not CUSA. Does that make Vandy a Power Four school even though they are SEC?

A Power Four team is a school that is in one of the Power Four conferences, the ACC, SEC, Big 10, and Big 12. These conferences are called the Power Four because they are the most prestigious and influencial conferences based on revenue, media deals, and overall success. It was the Power Five until the PAC-12 was disbanded. So yes, both GT and Vandy are Power Four schools because they are in one of the Power Four conferences
