Vols RB's #4 in Nation #2 SEC

#10
#10
Hurd's Desire/Power & Kamara's Quickness/Reckless Ease of Movement are a complementary pair unmatched by any other combo...IMHO.

I don't think Mixon/Perine hold a candle to our lads. I don't even think it's close.

Fournette is a freak. McCaffrey is a yardage machine. Each of them are worthy of high praise.

But our lads fit right in there after them, imo. No other RB combo touches them.

Go Vols!

OU uses Perine and Mixon like we do Hurd and Kamara, one as almost a pure RB (Perine) and the other as a utility back that also can line up as a receiver (Mixon).

It's a tough call, but I'd likely tie them with our guys at #3 as another poster said.

I like our duo of Thunder and Lightning, shake n' bake, over any other duo in the country.

Maybe RB position we are top 5 probably higher. But as far as backfield, rushing attack, we have to be 1st after factoring in Dobbs. 600 yds rushing has to be considered part of the backfield.

Looks about right considering Georgia has significant questions about the health of both Chubb and Michel. Although, I'm not sure about having Stanford ahead of us.....McCaffrey is better than either Hurd or AK, but as a duo? Haven't seen enough from Love......think I'd take our guys at this point.

Regarding OU, 1 on 1 and if the numbers don't lie, last year's box score had Hurd/Kamara rushing for 113 yds on 28 carries vs Mixon/Perine who rushed for 116 yds on 33 attempts. Not a big difference but head to head UT duo does beat the OU duo. Mayfield as we all know was the difference in that game not the two OU RBs. Regarding McCaffrey and Chubb both, I have difficulty anointing anyone with the "greatness" tag if they cannot reproduce it after one season, they both could be "one shot Johnnies." You cant be great if you can't get on the field and Hurd and Fournette both have outperformed Chubbs by a wide margin i n durability so far. Hurd has two seasons and is ready for #3, Kamara went a season and is ready for #2 and I have yet to say our duo is great, perhaps they will be but Kamara/Hurd has to do it this year for that to happen. The Chubb story will likely take one of two paths he can be a Larrimore or a Gurley. The stats say it's easier for RBs to perform more like Larrimore than Gurley, yet Chubb saw with his own two eyes Gurley being Gurley after his recovery. Time will tell.

I think Lsu has a helluva duo. The best in the nation IMO so its all about how everybody stacks up after them.

If Georgia's guys are back at 100%, they make a stout case for 2nd.

Hurd/AK are right there with a healthy Chubb/SM at 2nd.

GA's backs health is the key question with them so our guys get the nod over Georgia's.

OU's tandem is talented but my honest opinion is if they were on a team with a subpar passing game like say Lsu or TN in the SEC vs these defenses they would not produce as well as Hurd/AK.

IMHO
1)LSU
2)TN
3)GA
4)OU

As Union City said if you factor in Dobbs and how elite his wheels are TN has THE most talented backfield in the country.

To be honest once you are legitimately considered top 5 in these sorts of things it can get pretty nuanced (and often outright biased) attaching absolute ranking. Truth is UT's combo really should be considered Top 5 and that's a great place to be.

I like the fact that we have Dobbs than can and will take off if he has to, but I really like the fact that Kelly had a good spring and sounds like he will be as good a backup to Hurd and Kamara, which means we have a 4 man punch could be a very special season.

That's exactly what I was thinking #2 in the nation #2 in the SEC
