Vols Ranked Preseason No. 21 by The Sporting News

Is that top 40 list a joke?

Davidson, Purdue, Miami, and Xavier are ranked higher than us?

Even teams like Pitt, and Gonzaga are highly over rated. No way Tennessee finishes outside of the top 15. and they are basing this off of our crapping Pg's, when they havn't seen them yet, and also act like Tyler Smith is the only good player on our roster....I like this team's chances more than last year personally, no way we arn't a top 10 team to start the year.

With the loss of Lofton plus questions about pg, it makes sense for UT to be 21st to start out.

i'll gladly take the low pre-season ranking and proceed to gladly shove it up the arse of sporting news when we are ranked in the top ten.

I love Chris, but he wasn't exactly a force last year. Not to mention when you lose him and add a 6'7" SG you get much more defense

It's because a lot of our team is freshmen..We lost a couple of big scorers...Strange however since Tyler is back and We had one of the top recruiting classes but I suppose they don't think they are ready yet.

They'll have a few losses to more experience squads early in the season but by SEC play we should be ready to take another SECC.

You're right I just think at this point it's the unknown for us that is the reason for the lower ranking.

This might seem low but i think it is reasonable. the preseason means nothing. we will move up so fast when we start winning the big games.

Way too low for the talent UT has coming back. UT gets hosed by the media once again.

A moment in the life of my one track mind:

First immediate thought: I didn't even realize that this was related to basketball. In my one track mind, I thought this was a 2009 football preseason poll.

Second thought: I was offended that UT (football) was ranked so low.

I really am going to have to visit the hug thread. Or visit a sports psychologist. Do they treat fans?

Last I checked, Alabama was not in the SEC East. That says a lot about the writer's credibility. Always proofread your work before you hand it in!
Maybe they don't have copy editors at the Sporting News.

21 is way to low but we also have some youth on this team. If we win some games early and it looks like this team is on the same page and working together then we will move up real fast. What the paper expects is us to be young this year and make some mistakes at the beginning of the year...If we dont, then we will be movin on up!

when you add a 6'7" SG with a reputation for awful D, two brand spanking new PGs and no history of jump shooting, you get pounded in the polls.

We play as it appears we're capable and the polls will handled themselves.

Let 'em rank us low... I think we'll be good, and get better throughout the season.

I know it's cliche but... once our "freshman aren't freshman anymore" we will be a big time force.
