I think FSU is going to very hard to beat this year. Jaime Arnold has developed a third pitch in the off season. They also hope to have Cam Leiter back after his shoulder problems. They also picked up a few arms in the portal. Looks like a deep talented pitching staff.

And they are still bitching to this day about that nonstrike call.

I wouldn't have ranked Georgia ahead of Tennessee, but I would have ranked Florida State ahead of Tennessee, so I'm good with #5.

A&M is in year 1 for Earley as head coach.
FSU in year 3 of Link Jerrett.
If the 2 teams played in week 1, I'd take FSU.

I think there’s enough questions about this team to put them 5-10 honestly. Is Peebles ready to be the guy behind the plate? Can he fix his miscues with the bat? Who plays 1B? What does Kilen’s transition to SEC look like? Only hit .270 in ACC play. Is Chapman ready to be an everyday consistent threat at the plate? Vols lost a lot of .300+ hitters at the plate. Pitching should be much better.

I looked back and D1 has placed the defending champ at #4 in the next preseason poll for the last 4 seasons (post COVID)

That's an odd streak.

I think they've been hesitant to drop the champ too far even if they have tons of losses. Ole Miss and Mississippi State tanked hard after their titles. LSU came back for an ok post season after losing a lot early on.
