Trailing by three heading to the bottom of the eighth, Tennessee rallied for three runs in that frame to send the game to extra innings, but ULM answered with two runs in the 10th to hand the Volunteers an 8-6 loss and even the weekend series on a picture-perfect Saturday afternoon at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Before the three run double by the ULM catcher. He looked at an obvious strike 3. The batter even thought he struck out as he flinched and started to turn around. Everyone in the stadium thought it was a strikeout EXCEPT the umpire. We thought Steck had come in w/ bases loaded and 0 outs and preceded to K the side.

After that, we knew something was coming.

Fritts made a headsup play in the 8th when he kicked the drop ball at his feet after the E3. He advanced to second and runner scored. Took the DP out of play with one out and allowed us to tie the game. ULM coach was upset but the ump could not interpret intent. Very subtle. Fritts was slowing down and chopping his steps and adjusted his steps just enough to kick about 20' away. Had he kicked it into the bullpen it would have been too obvious.

Once again, I think we lost due to some baserunning blunders. In the 1st we manufactured a run abut for the rest of first and second it was a comedy of errors. Caught stealing. Pick offs.

The baserunning today was very bad, at times I swear our kids were taking a nap and so were the coaches. Too many errors on the basepath to win a close game. I think it was in the 5th had we not had the run down tag out and the Davis Morgan getting picked off at first we would have had the bases loaded with 0 outs.....

I don't know if ULM's pickoff moves were that good or if we were asleep on the bases but I think we had 3 picked off today? Way too many. Steckenrider pitched well out of the bullpen and nearly got out of a bases loaded no out jam that he came into the game to try and work us out of and just got beat on one pitch.
