I honestly see Crompton taking it again this year. His abilities are unreal physically. Now, with a coach that has a track record of producing QBs, i think he will live up to his potential and past hype.

Why the disbelief? We had two on the hook when Clawson was in charge and neither of those are the types that Kiffin and staff were comfortable with and they got here too late to make a run at the top guys. Kiffin will go after the top guys and not settle for projects or misfits.

We're in a tough spot in 2010 at QB, OL and DT. That is the fault of the previous staff combined with the short term consequences of changing the staff. That is growing pain of rebuilding that we'll have to endure. If this staff lives up to their resume's this program should be in a great positioin for 2011 and beyond. I look for year three (2011) to be a break out year.

I personally like Coleman . He would be my pick . Maybe the coaches went a long way towards making him look like a 'dual threat' QB by putting him in alot of zone read kinda deals last season and not giving him alot of chances to showcase his ability passing . I am aware of his JV numbers which are impressive . He will be a soph , which is perfect for the new recruit / QB of the future .

I speculate on Cromptom and Stephens simply because Kiffin has shown an affinity for the tall , quick release , strong arm , pro-style QB . He poo - pooed Boyd ...who along with his wheels appeared to have a nice arm .

Chaney has alot of success with a mobile / roll out QB in the past ( Breeze ) so maybe that is the direction they go ? Coleman would fit the mold of the west coast / pro style QB . It will be interesting to see what they run and who is at the helm .

Thats the thing though ...when Crompton subbed for Ainge against LSU and The Hogs ...he looked very good . He looked like a kid with a very bright future . He was being coached by Cutt though . Then he flips completely under the mismanaged , mis matched O last season .

He is a senior so the logistics are all wrong for him when you have two younger guys below him and hopefully a stud recruit on the way next year . The big temptation with Kiffin and crew would be , can they tap into JC mind and take advantage of the incredible physical skill set he possesses? If they think he is a lost cause ...onward and upward . Will be interesting

I think the best judge of QB talent was Cutcliffe and he really wanted Coleman. G. Jones was quoted as saying that Crompton was slow in making his progressions and the ball was slower coming out. Whether that was because of the new offense, fear of making a mistake, receivers not getting open, I don't know. But that is the way the G gun described it. Every snap Crompton takes is a snap that one of the younger guys needs. I am sorry that he is out of eligibility and he is probably a great kid. But we have to look to the future. Kiffin is in his honeymoon period and can win 8 next year and still be considered a huge success. 2010 will be different and he will need to win and take at least one from the big three. I think we need to let Coleman learn and grow this year and then be able to lead in 2010. A freshman will have to come in by Jan 2010 and go through the spring to be able to compete 2010. That won't be the time to have an inexperienced Coleman and a freshman.
