Pruitt is betting his career on a lame horse.
So it is okay for Pruitt to make unsound decisions now? Good grief!
You make great points and I don't doubt what you say is right. I even thought that way myself before the last game. But the eye test between Mauer and JG in the Florida game gave Mauer the slight nod because his drive got points. I don't doubt BM would have a learning curve, but I have got to believe his upside is higher at this point. He looks comfortable in there for a true freshman, yes he makes mistakes but I seen nothing that JG did was any better than Mauer. At this point at least for me, even if JG may be slightly better just because of experience there isn't enough margin to not play Mauer. He looks confident and JG looks uninspired. JMHO! GBO!My tl/dr opinion: I have to assume that for many of you it never crossed your minds that while you may not like it, the coaches believe that JG gives us the best chance if even by the slimmest of margins. We as fans have no idea how the QB's perform in 11 on 11 drills in practice. We have no idea if the backups have even learned the playbook. If you believe for just a second that any coach is going to play a guy that is not the best they have, then that proves to me that you have no clue how competitive coaches really are. Pruitt would not force Chaney and Tee to play JG if they truly wanted one of the backups. Chaney is not the type to allow that anyway. If you think Pruitt is intentionally tanking for the buyout, you must have the IQ of a dog pecker gnat. There would be no way to keep that a secret, and in turn would be career suicide.
I do not doubt that Maurer has a higher ceiling; however, until the coaches truly believe that there is absolutely no shot at a bowl game, we will not see Maurer turned loose IMO. Before some of you explode with your cute retorts, you need to think the way coaches think. They probably believe this team has a shot at beating Miss. St., UAB, KY, and Vandy. That's five wins total. With an upset..... Don't misunderstand me; I'm not predicting that, but the coaches may well be thinking that. If we lose to Miss. State and move to 1-5, I think Pruitt will throw caution to the wind. You make great points and I don't doubt what you say is right. I even thought that way myself before the last game. He sees in practice in 11 on 11 what we never see. I don't have blind faith in Pruitt, but I'm amazed at how many fans think they know more about coaching the game than he knows yet none of them are coaches themselves. But the thing is Vandy’s defense isn’t that bad and they put up some points against LSU, UAB is no slouch and at this point and time are undefeated putting up 30 points a game.
I just don’t see how Pruitt can even see what he sees on film and still think JG gives them their best chance to win. I’m afraid he’s miscalculated with JG and may possibly pay with his job if we only win one game.
There are no easy wins left on this schedule he blew those wins in the first two weeks.
I agree, No it doesn't sound like a good idea...that is until you think about it a little more.Uh use your Brains , you really goin to send a true Fr in for his first and or 2nd start vs the best team in UGA history and #1 Alabama??? Think that’s a good idea ?
Sheesh
Write him a letter! Smart a**But the thing is Vandy’s defense isn’t that bad and they put up some points against LSU, UAB is no slouch and at this point and time are undefeated putting up 30 points a game.

As much as I want a change at qb, maybe Pruitt is letting JG take the punches from Georgia and Bama. I never say quit, but let’s be honest we don’t have the team to compete with those guys this year. If we were playing sound ball I would say any given Saturday but JG can’t lead and the defense looks lost more times than not.
JG still with the 1s.. Oh well

Or knows the options are not any better with the others available. Maurer does make much quicker decisions, but an interception because the QB make a quick but bad decision is just as bad as an interception because the QB was late on the decision and throw. You do realize just because someone isn’t a coach doesn’t mean they can’t analyze what they see and pick out the defects?
I might not be a coach but I can watch JG play and see the kid has some issues with his foot work and his ability of not being able to read a defense.
It doesn’t take a great coach to see there is a problem at QB and it appears Pruitt is either to stubborn to see it or has no idea what he’s looking at.
