Though Daniel Bituli was suited up today, he was not a participant during our open session. He was coaching up the LB’s

Vols appear to have moved a couple of freshmen from defense to offense. Jerrod Means was with the wide receivers, and Aaron Beasley was with the running backs. Tim Jordan looked a little gimpy and had his left ankle taped pretty good, so that could explain the Beasley move.
Alontae Taylor was out there practicing as normal after getting dinged up in the fourth quarter the other day. Jordan Murphy was practicing today as well.

The Vols continue to work Alontae Taylor and Warren Burrell on the outside with Shawn Shamburger at nickel.
Henry To’oto’o and Will Ignont were still the 1s, with Shanon Reid and Banks going second.
Kurott Garland was again working with the 2s on Tuesday. The first-team DL was Aubrey Solomon, Greg Emerson and Savion Williams, in place of Darel Middleton who along with Latrell Bumphus and John Mincey was with the outside linebackers.
Notably, as we were leaving practice, Trey Smith did not go join his teammates in 11-on-11 work and instead went to work with the S&C staff.
It’s difficult to truly know because of all the scout team jerseys but it looked like Jordan Murphy was out there rocking a No. 14 jersey. I didn’t see a lot of routes on air, but Jauan Jennings made sure he went first in every rep after calling himself the leader of the team earlier Tuesday. Ramel Keyton continues to climb the line and was running second at one of the boundary wideout spots.
Athletics director Phillip Fulmer and mega-booster Charlie Anderson were practice observers today.

It's worth noting, too, that Tim Jordan looked less than 100% on Tuesday and had his left ankle noticeably taped. The Vols only played three running backs on Saturday (Jordan, Ty Chandler and Eric Gray), and one of them is banged up. Carlin Fils-aime was practicing on Tuesday as well, but Jordan's situation might partially explain the Beasley move.
There was a workmanlike feel to individual drills, but the overall energy was good, albeit not atypical of what it's been like throughout the preseason. There were some fired-up coaches, though, demanding urgency and vehemently correcting mistakes. Among them were Jim Chaney, Brian Niedermeyer and Will Friend on offense, while Tracy Rocker was more animated than he usually was during the preseason.
Ryan Johnson at left guard and K'Rojhn Calbert, who didn't get any snaps on the offensive line in the game after he was banged up some last week, at right guard worked either side of center Brandon Kennedy for one rep, while left guard Trey Smith and starting right guard Riley Locklear worked either side of Jerome Carvin for another set.

Wanya Morris and Jahmir Johnson worked at left tackle and Marcus Tatum and Darnell Wright worked at right tackle. Johnson and Wright, along with Kennedy, were two players who stood out more than the rest up front against Georgia State. If they're going to start against BYU, though, they'll likely have to show they're deserving in practice this week.

Along the defensive line, Aubrey Solomon, Greg Emerson, and Savion Williams were first through drills. Williams was very vocal. Tracy Rocker worked the defensive line through drills on the sleds as well as stunts. Elijah Simmons was working on the scout team.
The quarterbacks looked fairly good when throwing the football. Maryland transfer Kasim Hill was playing the role of BYU quarterback Zach Wilson on the scout team.

Jordan Murphy was wearing a No. 14 jersey instead of his usual No. 11.

@Fingers this isn’t a knock toward you but don’t you find it odd that practice wasn’t extremely vocal today? The way I read it it comes off as a walk through.

First time I've noticed the "Wiffle Bat Gauntlet" machine this year. Or, whatever it's called. Maybe that was the problem.

Here is where I’m at....probably will get blasted but week after week we see drill after drill and I think at some point until you have arrived then you should have to go thru the gauntlet. Have some physical in your face make some players uncomfortable. Hell practice. Allow contact. Allow some trash talking. Allow playing thru the whistle and getting after each other. To hell with player only meetings or “stepping on helmets” situations. How about do away with all this boring ass repetitive drilllwork. Roll out offense and defense throw a ball out there and go at each other. If it results in cuts and bruises and bad attitudes and people pissed off so be it. What I’m seeing and hearing are a lot of people pissed off that pay to watch and go to games. Roll back clock and if Pruitt is an old school guy then line me up and let’s play Monday thru Thursday. Whatever is left healthy enough send down the hill into Neyland and play your opponent. Simplify instead of all this other football rhetoric BS. BTW I’ve coached at the 20 plus years HS level and I know not collegiate, played at that level but damn at some point turn your dogs loose can’t be worse than what I witnessed Saturday. Alignment, spacing, lack of attitude and effort etc. above all things GBO. I won’t miss a game. I will support but somebody needs to hit the GO button and get it done

"The first-team DL was Aubrey Solomon, Greg Emerson and Savion Williams, in place of Darel Middleton who along with Latrell Bumphus and John Mincey was with the outside linebackers."

I've noticed this has happened for the last few practice updates. What the heck are Middleton, Bumphus, and Mincey doing with the outside linebackers?

Why is there only one practice video instead of the usual 3 or 4. Are less reporters allowed to attend?

That wasn't him that wrote it.

I know that but my question still stands...

Those reporters should have said there’s definitely something different with the group they’re loud, vocal, and fighting to get better. Not making it sound like they’re doing the Friday walkthrough
