QB Brian Maurer was a limited participant at #Vols Tuesday practice during open portion for media. JT Shrout and Jarrett Guarantano took bulk of reps. OL Riley Locklear did drill work. DL LaTrell Bumphus worked on the side.

#Vols Fr QB Brian Maurer was dressed but a limited participant in today’s practice. And … he threw the ball three million percent more accurarely than any other QB on the roster.

Brian Maurer was dressed at practice today and took some individual drill reps. First QB through drills and the first QB up in team reps: J.T Shrout. Maurer was mostly working third.

In the first period, it was redshirt freshman J.T. Shrout who was taking reps before Jarrett Guarantano.
All three quarterbacks threw during routes on air, and Maurer was impressively sharp. His throws were accurate and had some zip. He easily threw the ball better than Shrout and Guarantano. Shrout air-mailed a basic out route to Josh Palmer and had some other errant throws to highlight his inconsistency as a passer, and Guarantano also wasn't very sharp.

Freshman linebacker Quavaris Crouch went through drills on Tuesday with his right ankle noticeably taped.

(Jordan) Allen was taking reps on Tuesday as the defensive line and linebackers went through some reps together against the scout-team offensive line for a period of practice.

Defensive lineman LaTrell Bumphus was working on the side of practice with a strength coach as he looks to get back on the field after missing the Alabama game, while freshman offensive lineman Jackson Lampley, who didn't travel to Tuscaloosa, also worked on the side after being limited some last week.

Both redshirt freshman Kingston Harris and freshman Elijah Simmons were on the travel roster for the Alabama game, and both were taking reps with the defensive line (not as scout-team defensive linemen for the offensive line) on Tuesday.

Theo Jackson was second in line in safety drills. The junior started against Alabama, but was replaced in the second quarter by freshman Jaylen McCollough.

Maurer did participate in routes on air, though, and was solid, aside from his final few attempts. Shrout was hot and cold, with his crispest passes looking better than anyone in the group. Meanwhile, Guarantano had a rough throwing session, throwing a bunch of worm-burners.

Tennessee worked the same offensive line that played all 69 snaps together — Wanya Morris, Trey Smith, Brandon Kennedy, Jerome Carvin and Darnell Wright. Ryan Johnson did take a few reps with the group at right guard, while Jahmir Johnson worked some at left tackle flanked by Smith inside. Freshman guard Jackson Lampley is limited with an undisclosed injury.
On the defensive line, Darel Middleton and Greg Emerson, both dinged up at Alabama, looked fine today.
Jeremy Pruitt began practice observing the outside linebackers. Of note, Jordan Allen looked to be more active and taking more physical reps.
Theo Jackson was taking the reps, as usual, after Nigel Warrior but it’s clear that Derrick Ansley continues to prep Jaylen McCollough for an increased role.

Shrout and Maurer had a pretty good couple of minutes throwing the football. Guarantano did not.

If JG had been accurate during practice earlier in the year, he doesn't seem to be so much now...
I’m guessing JG feels so much guilt over his blown play that he will severely struggle in practice as well. I really hoped he would get it turned around here and be a success story.

Dont tell some of the people on this board that or they will have a meltdown of epic proportions and start calling you childish names

This was a follow up comment by Swain:
Because he’s three million percent more Accurate. You didn’t see any butterflies around his head did you?

I have NO idea what that means...

Looks like every JG pass is at the shoestrings of the receiver. They have to wait for it to even get that close.
