Vols Practice - 4 April 2015

Not a good time for Hurd to be sitting out with an injury. Every time I read the coaches points from practice they are absolutely going nuts over Kamara. Hurd might not get as much playing time as he would like if kamara keeps showing out.

They know what they have in Hurd. Kamara's and beast as well, even more talented according to Swain in terms of burst and speed. That being said, if both are healthy, I'm just guessing, but I could see a 50-50 deal with each, at the end of the year, getting around 200 carries. Can't wait to see these kids this fall and just pray they stay healthy.

Crowder needs to keep getting better or Robertson/C. Thomas (fingers crossed) will relegate him to the second team.

It's encouraging that Blair is now up to the 2-deep and doing well. I really think Blair and Kendricks can be good starting tackles. Kerbyson is good but too small IMO!

This is a good thing. This means Hurd and Kamara can give each other rest and stay healthy for the season.

You want two great backs for your offense if all possible.

Football has changed the past 15 years in this regard. Rb's now want a running mate these days because they can keep each other fresh and more durable by splitting carries.

Hurd and Kamara are two different kind of backs. So they will both have many touches this year. We've not had a one two punch like this in years where we have a big beat you up RB and a lightening quick RB. This will be exciting.

He will get plenty of time, but his role may swap a bit. He hasn't shown that bust around the corner and take off speed that the coaches keep saying kamara is showing.

Kamara runs somewhere in the 4.3 - 4.4 range in the 40. He is a true speedster. Hurd is fast, but a long-strider type. These guys are just different types of backs. Both are very, very good. Both can get some tough yards, both can catch the ball out of the backfield. It's good to know that if one of them is injured this fall that we will still have another back to plug in and there not experience any drop-off at all. How long has it been since we could say that???

Not since Ced Houston and Gerald Riggs i would say.

Raijon and Marlin were both good when Jay Graham was here.

Hardesty and Bryce Brown Were good
under Eddie Gran.

Sure looks like Treyvon Paulk in the background. From RTI.

Man I looked up our other RB walk-ons and none look like that to me. Really weird. Same body type as Paulk. Same number he wore last year.

I doubt he minds. Hurd will get plenty of carries.

As someone mentioned, it isn't like it used to be. If Hurd plans being drafted, he doesn't want to be that one running back every year that scouts think is done because his team ran him into the ground for four years.

Shows just how huge Hurd is. At first I thought he was standing closest to the camera but hes the same depth as the others and twice their size.

Beast.

Isn't that the smallish walkon? Jason Sparks? Pretty sure there would've been a very public announcement if Paulk had been reinstated.

Kerbyson isn't small. He doesn't have the ideal arm length you want at tackle. but there is nothing small about Kerbyson.

You're right, nothing small about 6'4 317lbs. Kerbyson is a guard however, and hasn't shown to have the "length" nor athletic ability to play OT, especially LT.

Brian Randolph and Curt Maggitt are like the historians of the team. They've been around since the days when there was still optimism with Dooley at the helm.
