well, then he could 've won an oscar....(hatvol96 @ Apr 21 said:My favorite thing about Ford was his act. He acted like this country rube. In actuality, he was an Academic All American who majored in English. There's also a great story about Ford's daughter and Terry Allen, but it's a little too risque' for this board.

I see Alabama this year in much the same situation UT was in last year. They're coming off a successful season and returning a good number of players. On the other hand, there were a number of games that could have gone the other way last year. Also, being a fan that also follows Oklahoma and Miami, I can tell you that the effects of probation aren't over in Tuscaloosa. Lack of depth, coupled with the inevitable balancing out of breaks in close games will cause the Tide to take a considerable fall.(TennTide24 @ Apr 24 said:There will be a drop-off. You seem to think it will be off the face of the earth. You obviously have a good rep here, but could you provide some justification? I could probably guess, though:
It will be tough to replace Demeco, no doubt. However, those stepping in/returning on D are more than capable keeping that tough defense going. The offensive will be drastically improved (they were very young)...and Brodie Croyle won't be missed as much as you think. Running game will be stout. All receivers are back.
My (early) pick:
1) LSU
2) Auburn
3) Bama
4) Arkeensaw
5) Ole Miss
6) Miss State

yea they will be very experiemced at wide reciever but they are one or two injuries in the reciveving corps or quarterback from a bottom finish in the sec west(VolBeef88 @ Apr 24 said:They will have one of the most talented back fields in the nation and a good O line coming back. they have a huge sure handed target in Marcus Monk and Casey Dick is a qb that will do what is needed by a team like this and that is not turn it over. The pigs will be a very solid team and one not to be taken lightly.

Record wise, maybe not. Given the disgraceful home schedule you play, 6 wins should be automatic.(TennTide24 @ Apr 24 said:It's still up in the air as of right now. I think Shula said that a decision would be made in June or July. I'd like to see them go ahead and put a redshirt on him and save him for '07.
hatvol, I am aware that the effects of probation are not over at "bammer." Last year was supposedly to be the worst as far as the sanctions were concerned. They did ok.
And, if you all think the offense will be as bad as it was last year you're fooling yourselves.
Again, there will be a drop-off, but a UT-esque drop off?! No, sir.
What if the Auburn game was still played in Birmingham? Can you imagine being a season ticket holder and paying for that slate of games?(volinasheville @ Apr 24 said:Bammer home schedule
9-2-06 HAWAI'I
9-9-06 VANDERBILT
9-16-06 LOUISIANA-MONROE
10-7-06 DUKE
10-14-06 MISSISSIPPI
10-28-06 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
11-4-06 MISSISSIPPI STATE
11-18-06 AUBURN
Anyone want to disagree with Hat on this one?

(TennTide24 @ Apr 24 said:Thank you for proving my point. That is why I say it won't be that bad a drop-off. We'll win 7 automatic and one or two on the road.![]()
That's why I quote Dickie V earlier in reference to the home/out of conference schedule as "cupcake city."
Win at home...couple on the road...8-9 wins.

(TennTide24 @ Apr 24 said:I don't disagree, Beefer. They will be solid, but I don't see the pigs showing the amount of improvement to contend with '06's LSU and/or Auburn.
I am of the opinion that nobody will stop LSU unless Sling Blade Carl (Miles) screws it up.
Plus, Arkansas is learning their new high school offense, remember? :biggrin2:
(VolBeef88 @ Apr 24 said:I agree with you totally on LSU. They have the talent to win it all and I think the only thing that will get in their way is old "biscuits and mustard, mmhhmm" Miles.
But the barn is still a ? in my mind on the O side of the ball.
(TennTide24 @ Apr 24 said:I can understand that about the Barn. I am just basing that off short-round's coaching ability. If Borges can turn Jason Campbell into a great QB then he's just short of turning water into wine. If he can get solid play out of his o-line they will be good. Especially with Irons and Cox in the backfield.
