Vols out of Liberty Bowl due to Covid

Higher ups working on something...this doesn’t add up. TN could have still played without Pruitt on the sidelines.
True, it's two weeks away. Short of losing a bunch of practice time for those in contact tracing, the game could still be played.

It took a pestilential plague to save the Vols from what would have been an historically stupid and embarrassing decision.

I don’t want anyone to catch the virus, but I hope this is true and not just an excuse to get out of the bowl game...they used the COVID excuse this past Saturday with EG & BM...seems a little fishy
Just like before COVID if any athlete was sick it was always the flu. So now anytime somebody has a sneeze it is going to be COVID. It fits the narrative for 2020.

What happened if someone else coached the bowl game & the team actually played like the gave a ****? Hmmmmm

The team may have decided they weren't interested in playing. The SEC probably won't let a team "opt out", but the Covid reason is another story.
It’s completely the opposite of what fulmer and Pruitt both came out with the statement last night so that wouldn’t make sense....

Not going to read into conspiracies here, if they had a bunch of positive tests they might have just thought ok, forget it. Not worth playing a game with no practice time in an empty stadium with fans who are already on the war path.

yeah I agree with that

Is it COVID or a cover?

Why in the world would anyone use COVID as a cover? Do you actually think the program could benefit from saying that team members have COVID? That would be a monumentally stupid thing to make up, and even though I'm not convinced Pruitt is very bright, he's not THAT dumb.

1st off...Tennessee shouldn’t be going to a bowl game to begin with.
2nd.. If the coaches and players tested positive, does that put Texas A&M in contact tracing and cost them their bowl?
I think it’s all horse crap myself.

You are not wrong. I don't understand how they didn't get a bid; of course, I haven't looked into it either. Maybe the bowls they are connected to aren't being played this year.

They were contracted to appear in the Independence Bowl to play a P12 team. Most P12 teams opted out of playing, so they didn't have a contracted opponent so instead the Independence Bowl decided to cancel.
