Vols offered Chavis

John Brice adamantly refuted this report yesterday afternoon on Nashville radio. Hyams once again blowing smoke out of his ass. When my dog speaks he's more credible than Hyams.

$1 million to leave lsu and come to UT??? Hello?? UT needs to up the offer to a lot more than that.

I heard they offered Saban .. but he said the stress of UT's DC was greater than HC at Bama with our crazy fan base...

Today's deli: Smoked Cheddar & Turkey on Dark w/ mayo and a pickle

Chavis is way overrated. Too many examples to go over here. But he earned that nickname; 3rd and Chavis.

CSS also reported that Chavis was offered I believe from Chuck Oliver. It was on the 'football fix' plus this nugget from Matt Stewart.

Sports talk radio in Knoxville is pretty much dominated by one topic and that's Dooley...will he survive or why hasn't he been fired yet? The noise level only increased this week after DC Justin Wilcox left the program for Washington and reports got out that Clemson's Kevin Steele had been offered the job (24 hours later his defense gave-up 70 to West Virginia in the Orange Bowl) and that the once maligned John Chavis (now living the good life at LSU) had been approached.

Now it appears that former Hurricanes Head Coach Randy Shannon is in the mix. To me that's a sure sign of desperation to bring in a DC who no doubt has designs on being a head coach again. Not saying that Shannon would do anything to undercut Dooley but it sure would make it convenient for the administration if the 2012 season didn't get off to a great start to have a former Head Coach and "supposed great recruiter of south Florida talent" already on the staff.

I don't like Stewart at all.

Such a whiny UGA homer

after Monday when LSU shuts down Bama, to win another NC, Chavis can ask for $1.5MM

I dont see any desperation in this.

I have a friend that does PR work in the AD and she told me that Chavis has been offered the job and he has accepted the offer but the plan was to deny it all along out of respect for LSU and that they would annouce it after the NC game. Anyone else that has a reliable source heard this or anything like this. I don't know that this girl knows for sure what is going on. Just wondering if anyone else knows this or heard anything like it

I heard that UT offered him $1mil and he was thinking about it then LSU countered with $1mil and two boxes of corn dogs and he decided to stay put.

we'll find out in 4 days

He was never offered the job. He was offered the $1m for land he owned outside Knoxville. They are looking to build Randy Shannon a mansion on a hill.

Hyams' cricket phone is acting up again

If you could walk and chew gum you were better than Chief on 3rd and long overall time may tell but they have such fantastic athietes at LSU some of our guys might make 2nd team in some spots but RS might change that

I know I'm new, and nobody listens to the new guy, but I'm almost positive you have to have permission from the school to talk to employed coaches. There's absolutely no way LSU gave anyone permission to talk to Chavis this week. Besides that, it would probably piss him off if we tried to talk to him while he's preparing for a BCS Championship game. The whole thing seems fishy. I think we are going to try to get someone who's still playing though. Might be him, might be Kirby Smart, might be a NFL coach. It just seems like with signing day so close, if we were hiring someone already available we would have already announced it, because school starts back for most places next week, and if we were gonna sway any early enrollees our way we would have signed the guy we wanted already.
