#Vols’ newest practice trick — I’m not making this up — is putting injured players in different jersey numbers when they have to wear green.

Thought I would share... What could possibly be the reason to do this?

I'll give 'em the benefit of doubt. I would be surprised if there are 99 numbered green jerseys floating around.

Why would that be childish? Do you think the opposing teams dont want to know who is dinged up so they can key on them in the game? Sounds like good practice to me!

If that's the case it's borderline childish, imo.

Not when Butch has had to address injuries that didn't occur multiple times this year. We already have enough problems with the teams we play, no reason to let the media tell our opponents who is banged up before we play them.

isn't that what injury reports do?

I don't understand what's going on here.

This is a good decision by the coaching staff if it's making it hard to identify injured players.

Man Butch is screwed, the whole world is against him.

I'd like to take this moment to make my obligatory "Rucker is a punk and clown" declaration.

Opposing teams have film of OK, FL, and AR games. They already know who/where to key on.

are D1 programs not required to report injuries like in the NFL?

The problem is, you do not know the extent of an injury right off the bat. Once the training staff has a chance to fully evaluate the injury and give a prognosis, then it will be reported. That may take several days full of tests, MRI's, x-rays, etc....
