Pruitt said Emmit Gooden is five months out of ACL surgery, is moving well and should be ready for spring.
vqPruitt says Jarrett Guarantano’s hand should be fine for Thursday.
Starting center Brandon Kennedy continues to give it a go and could play against the Hoosiers. Kennedy stretched with a member of the strength staff on the side of practice while Tennessee went through its stretching period. He then joined the Vols for offensive line drills and was a full participant in the session as the guards and centers worked together and the tackles worked with the tight ends. Kennedy got multiple reps between regular starting guards Trey Smith and Jerome Carvin.
Carvin did get some work at center alongside two freshmen at guard in Chris Akporoghene (right) and Jackson Lampley (left), while another trio had Ollie Lane at center with Riley Locklear at left guard and Kingston Harris, a converted defensive lineman, at left guard.
Not much to report from the defensive field from Monday's practice other than cornerback Bryce Thompson was in a black non-contact jersey.
p.brownQuarterback Brian Maurer had a big brace on his right leg for the second straight day.
simontonElsewhere, Ty Chandler was moving pretty well Monday. The junior tailback didn’t record a carry against Vandy after battling an ankle injury the last few weeks of the season.
Also, RB coach David Johnson was absent from practice after a death in the family. Johnson is expected to return from Louisiana tomorrow.
Finally, a couple former Tennessee head coaches were in the house to start practice — Doug Dickey and Phillip Fulmer.
