Vols Lose A Faithful Fan

Sorry for your loss. My father passed when I was 5 so we never got to experience being VFLs together, but there was a picture he had framed that showed a boy laying in the grass day dreaming. The "day dream" was clouded above him and showed a TN running back dumptrucking Alabama players and the caption of the day dream painting was "someday." At least I knew he was a VFL!

my Dad did similar things for/with me and he passed away 5 years ago. Tough to lose those true Volunteers.

Sorry for the Loss. I lost my father this year. I grew up loving the Vols and the same we were able to go to and or watch on TV. He Passed away the week after the Third Saturday in October. It was the last day he was awake and I was happy to of been there and share it with him.

True Volunteers have something that nobody else understands. We answer the call when everyone else sits. It's always been that way. Thank you for your post. Prayers to you and your family.

He may be gone but it sounds like your father left some great memories for you. I am sorry for your loss.

We might have lost a Vol here, but Heaven just became a little bit sweeter with one more Vol up there.

Losing a Loved One Sucks, I do not know how else to put it. I am like everyone else here and am sorry it happened. We all will eventually go, just a matter of time. I hope he had a full life. He will want you to keep cheering without a doubt, win or lose. I will toast to him on the 1st.

Sorry for your loss brother, but, if it brings you any comfort it's awesome that you got to spend so much time with him. He's watching with the General now. God bless.

I think the OP described the relationship many of us had with our fathers..... Those of us old enough anyway. It made me realize how thankful I am to have those memories.

Sorry for your loss. My mom passed away on September 5, 2015 so I know what you're going through. She was a huge UT fan as well. I just finished putting up the Christmas tree the other day with her ornaments on it, and I couldn't hold back the tears as I put her Tennessee ornaments on the tree.

So very sorry for your loss. You may not believe this, but the days will come when you smile and laugh over the great memories of your dad far more than you will cry. My dad passed almost five years ago (Jan. 8, 2011) and like you, he introduced me to Tennessee football through John Ward and Bill Anderson on the Vol Radio Network. I know so many students where I teach who do not know or have a relationship with their dad, so the times you had with him are a blessing. I pray for peace to you and your family during this tough time.
