Vols Lead All Teams With 5 Drafted

Ainge had to compete for, and won, the job as a true freshman...no harm there.

There was really no competition coming into his sophomore year...he was the starter...he just struggled badly, and it opened the door again for Clausen.

And why do you continuously rant about Ainge's injury issues, but ignore Crompton's? Of the two, Crompton is the only QB to have missed an entire season due to injury.

Crompton's was a fluke injury.

If Ainge can't beat out a guy that Saban pretty much gave to us that had no kind of arm, I find it hard for you defend him.

He did beat him out. See 2004. Think harder. Crompton's shoulder injury was no more a fluke than Ainge's knee injury.

If not for two miraculous Robert Meachem catches, Crompton played one of the worst games a UT QB has had in years. Then, he went to Arkansas and played one of the worst games a UT QB has had in years.

The worst game in recent years? You have to be kidding me. Did you see the first half of the 2005 LSU game? What about the UAB game? What about the Penn State and Kentucky games this past year?

Wow...

Yawn. What was Crompton's completion percentage over this two game winning spree that makes you think he's the next Manning?

Logical reasoning...when we lose with Ainge at QB, it's Erik's fault....when we lose with Crompton at QB, it's the defense's fault.
Offensively, Crompton did his part. He put up points. The Arkansas game was one where the team lacked any kind of motivation after losing to LSU the week before. Plenty of people to blame that on besides Crompton.

There are plenty of people to blame our other losses on besides Ainge. This is pathetic.

But they were so fired up vs. Penn State and Kentucky, right?

I have never called him the next Manning. I've just said that Ainge is marginally better than Crompton. I guess in the Fulmerite world, if you think Crompton is better than Ainge, he is the next Manning... :good!:

Crompton got us in the endzone twice...it's not like he was torching the LSU secondary all game.

Fulmerite logic? You must not know how to read. If you think supporting Ainge over Crompton is somehow in support of Fulmer... go read a book or something.

how can you honestly think ainge is this bad? do you hate him and like crompton a lot, or do you just not know what you are talking about?

You should be embarrassed as a Vol fan at that performance we had in the Outback Bowl (Joe Pesci was in the skybox with a broken leg). And even though Ky had a good season, still no reason to be hanging on for a win and being held to 20 or less points. Not all of that is Ainge's fault though. The majority has to go to the man up top (Fulmer).

Ainge did set the single season pass % record at UT last season. Far and away the most important stat for a QB.

Even though he played terrible as a sophomore he played well last season.

I've seen all I've wanted to see out of Ainge and I have not been impressed. Just when he was on the verge of winning me over last year, he gets hurt (as usual).

No one called Crompton the next Manning, either...

It's called exaggeration for emphasis. The emphasis is on how weak your argument is. You did, however, have the genius idea to bring up that Ainge is not as good as Manning and try to use that as some sort of indication that he is no good.

He was helped a lot by short passes and big runs after the catch (see Cal game).
