And his stats are not "thrown out the window." It's really just a side note. If a player doesn't have the skills to play in the NFL, it doesn't matter the stats. You won't get picked just because of your stats, but you can get picked based on abilities.

And a 6'6" QB that won games as a freshman against UGA and Florida as well as lead the SEC in completion % his junior year is going to get some looks in the first round. He has another big year this coming season and he's a lock to be a first rounder

Akili Smith was mobile.

The only thing Ainge has going for him is an arm. He has Rex Grossman written all over him...

He hasn't played a full season.
He can't run worth a lick.
He's still got questions about his toughness (both mental and physical).
He his biggest career wins so far have been against Florida (with the help of Scheaffer) in 2004, Cal and Georgia (during a down year for Georgia).

What big wins does Colt Brennan have? Aaron Rodgers went in the first round. He had one big win in his entire career. Mobility isn't an issue. He's mobile enough in the pocket. An NFL QB doesn't need rushing yards.

I'd suggest stopping TVA from turning every thread into his personal "I Hate Ainge" thread by just ignoring it.

How many O-linemen have been drafted out of UT over, say, the last 7-8 years versus other positions?

When you find the answer to that, you will discover the source of the problems.

(And as I've said before, the head coach having a background in that position group doesn't reflect on him at all. That's for you, TVA)

No I trust TVA over Cutcliffe, Fulmer, and NFL scouts (who like Ainge) because TVA is that awesome. Yeah he has Rex Grossman all over him except for his long arms, he gets better coaching, and pass accuracy and arm strength. Good call TVA. :crazy: :crazy:

Ainge has won a "handful" of big games...It's a good thing NFL teams don't draft using your poor logic. If they did, Ken Dorsey would have been a #1 overall pick, and John Elway would have been a sixth round pick.

I am still not believing the amount of faith you guys have in Ainge to 1) complete a full season or 2) to win anything significant.

Ainge is not a first round talent, nor is he any better than any of the starters we've had on campus since 1990.

He is approximately 100 billion times better than Joey Matthews and AJ Suggs. It's not like UT has had crappy QBs in the era you mentioned. Casey Clausen was a good college QB. He didn't have an NFL future because of poor arm strength. Ainge doesn't have that problem.

I'm sold. We should try to get Joey Matthews in grad school and maybe he can save the program.
