Vols Last Shot at Meyer in the Swamp?

I believe Florida can and will match anything Notre Dame offers.

The Domers have more money than a lot of small countries; they can outbid anyone if they want to. I think UF will keep him, but it's going to cost them dearly. $7m a year? $8m? It wouldn't shock me to see Meyer's salary end up in that range if Notre Dame wants him badly enough. If any state school can justify matching that, I guess it's Florida, but Foley's going to be squirming for a little while.

Oh yeah, I am not denying Notre Dame has more money than Florida. I just think Florida will go above and beyond what they wanted to spend to match. It's hard to justify to your fans that you've lost a coach that's won 2 championships, maybe 3 in his last 4 years. Bandwagon or not, their fans have done their part to sell out games, buy apparel etc. I'm sure boosters and alum have donated plenty of money towards the football program. I would be pretty upset if I lost Meyer and I were them. At least if Florida matches and they lose him, they won't be angry with the school. They'll just be mad at Meyer.

I'm hoping ND loses 3-4 more games, Weis gets the ax and they offer Meyer millions to come rescue the program. Meyer would be on the first plane up to Indiana! Then, Kiffin takes over the SEC East!!!!

I hate ND almost as much as I hate Florida!!! They are amongst the most over-rated teams EVER...But being the good little catholic that he is Urban Meyer may just head to South Bend if the money is right...Personally I could care less because CLK is gonna have UT in a position to piss all over Urban Meyer's Gators or the Fighting Irish or by God whoever we are playing that week as soon as he gets his recruits here and builds the VOLUNTEER EMPIRE back up to where it belongs...at #1 in the country!!!!!

The power is gonna shift in 1-2 years anyway, regardless if he leaves or not. Meyer will be lost without Tebow. Look at what Kiffin has been able to do so far recruiting wise in not even a full year. I truly believe we'll have another national title in 2-4 years.

I would rather Kiffin own Meyer-see Bruce Pearl vs Billy Donovan-for years and years than have Meyer leave for ND,

After the debacle in Ann Arbor last Saturday, Weiss is coaching on borrowed time. He was supposed to win that game, this was the year he was supposed to do something. ND will, if they haven't already, contact CUM's agent.

ND got beat by the spread, ND knows CUM is the best spread coach and they believe they deserve him. I think this will be CUM's last year at FL. What else can he do at FL?

I dont want Meyer to leave I want CLK to start owning him after a couple of recruiting classes if he does go all the fans will say he only won cause CUM left. I do think he will leave though the ND money will be to much to pass up.

Im sure they could work something out on future scheduling

Why is everyone so fixated on Meyer leaving. One gets the impression that y'all think he's a better coach than Kiffin. UT has the upper hand now...I hope Meyer stays.

If he goes to ND, I want them on the schedule. I feel like Kiffin is the kind of coach that will get even with Florida and Urban at some point.

I think Kiffin has a bit of Spurrier in him. He will remember what happens on the field and pay it back when he gets the chance.

Even if Meyer leaves i'd say Jeremy Foley would find a decent replacement. The guy is a football guy, something our beloved AD isn't. The business side of football is going to cost 2 more years of 500 ball. At which time Hamilton will be hanging onto his job by a thread. The lynch mob is coming for him next.

Didn't UM just sign a a new deal this past week?
He did earlier this year. This red flag is his buyout, its half a million dollars. Makes for a nice departure on both sides. The university doesn't get foolmered on that buyout.

Urban Meyer is the best or one of the best coaches in the NCAA right now. There is no question. He puts together great coaching staffs, he recruits well, he develops talent well, he game-plans well, and he knows how to motivate his players.

He came to Florida and turned a group of under-acheivers, never-weres, and almost-greats into champions in just 2 years time.

He is constantly adjusting, constantly adapting, and always looking for new ways to get better. (See the addition of no-huddle this year, Wildcat Percy package last year, Jump pass, etc...) Right now it's not even close. You can't compare Lane Kiffin to Urban Meyer right now. Even if UT wins on Saturday, it's just an upset. Lane Kiffin has a lot to prove before he can be ranked with the likes of Urban Meyer in the NCAA coaching community.

Also, he just signed a new contract and said he wasn't leaving for a while. Now I don't know what that is worth these days, but I think he stays in Gainesville a few more years before he moves on.

Lastly, why does everyone think UF will stink once Tebow leaves? UF and Meyer have had amazing recruiting classes the last few years. The Oline talent is absolutely sick right now, and UF has great defensive players all over the field. UF is going to reel in another top 5 class again this year. UF might not be in the national title conversation next year, but they certainly will be in the SEC race if Meyer stays. UF isn't going anywhere.

I'd almost say it's pretty likely that if Meyer wins another NC this year... he's gone. How can you possibly top 3 NCs in 4 years by staying at the same school?

You do know that Foley started his career working in the UF ticket office, right? He's a business guy, just like Hamilton, just like Damon Evans down at UGA, etc. The days of paying ex-football coaches a big check to gladhand on the rubber chicken circuit are over. What do you think pays for our fantastic facilities, the stadium renovations, etc.?

We're going to have two more years of .500 ball because Fulmer brought in crappy players, not because we have a professional money man overseeing our $85m budget.
