Vols just called creampuffs on Sec network preview show.

Watched it. Didn't see them say creampuff, but saw them laugh when one of them said something about FL trying to beat UT by 50. I also saw Holtz say something to the effect that UT was still going to have a stout defense. Anyway, besides the FL lovefest didn't see it as horrible.

Now the thing that bothers me is the predictions of 7-5 or lower. Last year with all the terrrible play we were a kicking game away from an 7-8 win season. 2 years removed from an SEC champ game. UCLA, Wyoming, Aub were all wins with one kick.

Ho wcan anyone pick UK to beat UT. Even last year where we sucked and had nothing to play for we still beat them.

Do people actually think that the O and kicking game is going to be the same or worse? I take the opposite approach and say that I will be very surpursed if UT doesn't win 9 or more.

Personally, I think Florida is overrated this year. Before everyone calls me crazy i have a few very valid points. First, Percy is gone and they have noone to replace him. Just because Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey run sub 4.3 doesn't mean they can replace the field vision and elusiveness Percy broght to the table. Need proof? Look at both Demps and Rainey's stats from every game where they actually played somone with a decent defense. Only once (Florida St.) did they have even a remote impact. Urban has also tried Joe Haden in a package similar to what Percy played. Trying one of their best defenders on offense, even we're not that desperate. They also have to replace both of their starting tackles. If you don't think Florida's tackles mean anything, look how fast they have to pull to get the lead block to spring those fast guys on the edge. They don't even hardly touch the end usually. Phil Trautwein was a 4-year starter also. They may have someone who can come in and be effective but there will be bumps in the road. How many times could one of those tackles miss a lead block on a safety (possibly Eric Berry) and look back to see Demps or Rainey shaking on the ground with the ball going the other way? We might be inferior to Florida's talent, I will give them that. But to call us creampuffs is insane. Win or lose, our team will lay the wood on some Gators this year.

It was the same when we played CAL the first game 3 years ago. They thought we were "cream puff" and I believe that it was Ryan Karl that gave their all american tight end a concussion on the opening kick off. Boys let's let them talk all they want. Our boys will talk for us on the field. PS-I was hangin with a few of the recievers the other night and Vlad (vol linemen) came up to talk. He is the largest man I think I have ever seen. He's ripped and 300+ lbs.

yadi yadi yada GO VOLS!!!

the real thing that sucks about this is not that they have no respect for us and talk us down BUT it just so happens that a majority of our games will be played on espn because of the deal that the sec and espn made. so no respect, and we have to hear it pregame, during game, and after. (expletive)
Respect has to be earned my friend and TN has been a joke against elite teams for years now. All you gotta do is look at the facts, they don't lie. People outside of TN, do not follow TN like us hardcore fans. They are not aware of the changes this team has gone through since CLK and staff were hired, nor should they be. As the season progresses you will see the media acknowledge the discipline, mental toughness, physicality etc this team possesses that Fulmer's teams lacked. Just try and be patient and you will see for yourself.

Less talented? yes
A creampuff? No

We are going to come out and hit those boys in the mouth and play hard for 4 quarters. Go Vols!

Yep. And that will be great to see a Tennessee team that actually plays for 4 quarters

I usually just read...rarely post....but this brings to mind a conversation I had with a HUGE Michigan fan preceding the Appalachian State game a while back...don't remember his exact words but "creampuff" did enter into the conversation about the Appy State game...how ironic...every program has down years and I am not comparing our situation to the one in Michigan, but I think that game demonstrates that no team should EVER be considered an automatic win...even "creampuffs"....JMO

I agree, cause if I'm not mistaken, that same Michigan team beat the all mighty Gators in the bowl game

We ARE a creampuff, comparatively speaking. You know how when you're talking to someone about our schedule, and you point out that, while yes, we're playing UAB or Southern Miss or somebody like that this weekend, they're actually pretty good and you hope our team takes them seriously? That's where Tennessee football is right now.

Hard to swallow how far Herr Fulmer brought down the program. But you correct sir.

New coach = New attitude, fresh energy and enhanced confidence. We've seen instances of this alot of times in different sports, haven't we? Especially in the first season when such teams not uncommonly seem to come out of nowhere to play above their presumed talent level. We will pull a couple of stunners, imo, and why not Florida?!

I'm optimistic about the future. But I can't believe how many people start threads because they're pissed off about how people are picking us to finish 5th or 6th in the division or whatever. We weren't a decent team that had a bunch of bad breaks last year; we were horrendous. We don't deserve anybody's benefit of the doubt until we actually win a game or two that we can be proud of.

Hard for me to swallow too but I understand why folks think we suck. A 5-7 record screams cream puff. It's up to the new staff and team to change that. I think they will.

If we were the exact same team but had a decent QB returning, the media would be giving us a lot more respect or love or whatever these people who worry about it call it. Writers would be focusing on our upside instead of just staring at Crompton and assuming that we're going to suck. I don't blame them at all; I'd be doing the exact same thing if I weren't an obsessive fan who follows what's going on in Knoxville religiously. You can't get anybody's benefit of the doubt when your QB became a famous punchline, and yet he's still coming back to start again.

The upshot is that thin-skinned UT fans ought to take a complete pass on all the usual college football preview stuff this year. There's not going to be much in any of them that's likely to be very flattering.

To call UT a "creampuff" is a little over the top. You guys have a good bit of talent... just not great talent at many key positions. UT will be a 7 win team this year and will probably win more the next year. Any team that has a winning record coming out of the SEC is hardly a creampuff!

I know it isn't near UT standards, but ALL programs go through tough times.

y'all are way overdramatic about this.

I am not suggesting we are going to get blown out this year - but based on past evidence we are a creampuff to Florida. Doesn't mean things cannot change. But it is what it is.

You're a creampuff, why dont you just move over to the gatorzone... I smell a gator.
