The song "el paso" by Marty Robbins is stuck in my head now lol I think any time a Texan run into a Tennesseean the Texan should tip his cowboy hat and say " thank you for helping my beloved Texas win it's independence so many years ago, thank you Tennessee" ha ha ha

What really ticks me off are the Pronghorn bumper stickers with our logo - the interlocked O&W "UT". Aren't Pronghorns creative enough to invent their own logo instead of stealing ours? I guess not. :the_finger:

Texas bought the rights to that logo about 15 years ago, when we went to the power "T". There is an interesting story behind that though.

You obviously haven't been to Fayetteville, NC (Fort Bragg) That is the worst by far.

Yes I've been to Fayetteville and no it wasn't a bigger cesspool than Killeen was. At least IMO. Ft. Hood was my first duty station back in 84 and the only good thing I could say about that place (other than Belton Lake) was that Ft. Hood was an open post back then.

El Paso could be the worst city in the country. I would prefer to give it to Mexico as it looks like part of it already.

Good luck, bro. GBO.

You might want to visit the following before designating El Paso as a non-USA property, though a lot of Texans have the same view. Calexico, California
Nogales, Arizona
Las Cruces, New Mexico (actually , I like
town)
Columbus, New Mexico
Yuma, Arizona

You have my sympathy. Killeen is biggest cesspool military town I have ever been in.

You're probably right but here's an offer. Move to Abilene. take a seriously deep breath or the oil choked air and try repeating your above statement.

Obviously, I've traveled a fair deal out west.

I've flown into Dyess AFB coming back from Panama, but never saw Abilene, so I'll take your word for it.

I'll rephrase my statement to Killeen is the worst Army town I've ever been too. At least in the lower 48.

Las Cruces is a nice town compared to the border towns.

I live in Killeen and know what you mean. I have a lot of Tennessee gear and get the same thing. Hang in there brother, we Tennessee folks are all over the place, just keep the faith!!!! On my way to Knoxville today to visit my family before I head out to the big sand box!!! Will be updating my Tennessee wardrobe while I am there. You can never find any Tennessee gear in Tex-ass.

I know your pain, brother. I'm in Killeen, too. There's a couple of us Vols around....just gotta know where to look. You might have seen me, I'm the one usually rockin' the (correct) Orange ball cap, sometimes with the Rico jersey.

A few years ago I was visiting the Hermitage in Nashville and had on my Vol hat and a shirt with the power T on it and a couple with their Texas gear on looked at me and gave me the "hook em horns" sign....I had to explain to them, verrrrry slowly, that Tennessee's colors were different from theirs and that I was not a part of their group.....

If you google UT, you will get University of Texas listed first always. I'm not a Texas fan by any means (RTR), and if Tn makes it to the NC against Texas I would pull for UT over Texas. But outside of the SEC UT is first thought of as Texas.

I actually got UT Martin but that's beside the point :)

My outlaws live near Dallas. They aren't big longhorn fans but my mother-in-law is trying to put that crap on my son. I'm not having that!

It depends on how you judge who is the real UT. Is it which school was founded first or is it the school with the most NC's? Oh wait, we win either way. :) Carry on...

You know it's not hard to see us Tennessee fans here in Killeen. With all the rust (burnt orange) bandwagon jumpers running around, you can't miss the real orange wearers in the crowd. Go Vols!!!!! I'm in Memphis and will be in Knoxville (home) tomorrow. It has been too long!!!!

CBS which I believe is Channel 11 and The SEC Network which is Channel 21. These are the only non cable local stations I am aware of. Lived here in Dallas for the past 6 years, I will say the coverage of Tennessee Football was not that great for the first 5, but last season, between the aforementioned TV Stations, along with ESPN, I believe I was able to take in 8 games.

Come out to 3rd Base and you can see all of them.

I realize this is a long shot, but are there any other Vol fans in El Paso? It sucks when you wear a Power T hat and stupid people here think its texas cause they don't know their own team. I have to make sure I wear something that says Tennessee or Vols on it. I go to the texas vs the nation game every year and there are always a couple of TN players(crompton started last year, did a decent job probably helped him get into the NFL), never seen any fans though. Just curious if I am right to assume I am alone here.

I'm right up the road from you buddy, in Las Cruces! nice to see a post from so close by. like you I thought I was alone here. I've lived her since December and I have seen only one person here with UT gear on. Lol. I occasionally make it down to El Paso for some shopping.. Or to eat. Any tips on good restaurants there? I enjoy it here but its not near the same as Knoxville or many other parts of the southeast.

Nice to hear from a Vol fan in Las Cruces! It just might have been me you saw, I go to Las Cruces sometimes and I wear orange all the time. I agree Southeast > southwest of course. Try Gunther's Edelweiss if you like German food. It's a well kept secret and it's awesome.

I just got back from a week in Austin......we wore the real UT gear all week. Had a couple of guys ask me where I got my hat....when I said Knoxville one guy got it and the other one just had that stupid look on his face. My in-laws were driving me around downtown and we drove by the campus. We drove past the stadium and my brother-in-law says "there's our stadium!" He wasn't too pleased when I asked him if that's where he went to high school, lol. That's a cute lil' ballfield ya'll got there....

Here in upstate SC, people (there have been more than one...and they were men) mistake my Power T for the Clemson Tiger "T", of which there is no such thing. One of the many reasons I despise Clampson:
Their fans are ridiculously stupid.

A lot of Teasips aren't very smart. :eek:lol:
