Vols in Texas

Midland checking in. There are about 7 UT alumni in the Midland-Odessa area. The locals mistake my UT "T" for a longhorn "T" all the time. They are the dumbest group of bandwagon jumpers I've ever been around. DishNetwork is the ticket. I normally get to watch all the games not shown on ESPN or CBS.

I'm from outside of nashville. I live here in coppell, tx, right beside irving and lewisville now and I hate texas. It's too flat and there aren't enough trees. I still don't know what the big deal is about texas after living here now for almost a year and a half. It SUCKS! There is a place you can go to watch tennessee games on saturdays. It's called 1st BASE. There is alot of tennessee alum that go there and pay to watch the games. Been there a couple times. It's in frisco which is north of dallas. As far as teaxas fans in dallas, there seems to be more a&m and tech fans here than actual texas fans. I have to constantly remind texas fans who THE REAL UT IS!!!!!!!! They need a history lesson.

Some of you guys here around coppell or lewisville might have seen me drive my jeep around with a big orange Tennessee 3x5 flag flying in the back. I'll try to post a pic.

Yes I do. I live in the burbs near DFW airport.

This is good advice. I have watched a couple of games with these folks and it is a good time. I have 3 young kids and it is logistically challenging to bring them along, so I just have a good cable package and ESPN gameplan and watch all the games at home.

Welcome to DFW. It's not all bad.

Go Vols.

I moved to Dallas 3 months ago from Memphis but I have a lot of friends here as well as a few family members so it was an easy transition for me.

I live in Uptown Dallas and ESPN Game Plan is a must!

Guys,

I was born and raised in Knoxville, went to Farragut High School then moved to Nashville after that. So I have always had access to UT games on Television and Nashville was never to far for a quick trip home to God's country for a game.

Sadly I had to move to Dallas, TX for work in February and if I see another burnt orange longhorn fan Im gonna puke!! But are there any other VOL fans in Texas that can help me out and let me know what kind of Television coverage the Vols get out here and if not where can I go (via internet) to watch the games this year. Thanks!!

VOL4LIFE!!!

I just moved my family to Frisco and will be looking to get set up for the games also. I have been commuting to Dallas for work for almost two years and the ESPN gameplan has worked out the best. In a pinch there is ESPN 360. There are more of here than you know. Put on that orange and we will find you!

Not sure. I have cousins that were born in West Tennessee and then moved to Waxahatchie (right outside of Dallas). They still live and breath UT football. Ill ask them and get back with you.
People in Waxahachie will not welcome you with that misspelling. They're real particular. I used to drive back to TN often from there for games.:good!:

The real question is can you pronounce it correctly?

Absolutely. I had four years of practice. Nice little town and area.

Oh, yeah. Waux instead of wax as in paper. Learned how to pronounce Ennis very quickly, too. Doesn't have a long e.

Come watch the games with the Vol faithful at the 3rd Base (between Stonebriar mall and the ball park in Frisco)...much more fun than watching at the house.

Also, you will be surprised how many people will want to chat if you wear your colors when you are out and about in DFW. Seems like everyone here has relatives or friends in Tennessee, likes Tennessee football, or just wants to know if you can identify the crazy person that runs around with a Darth mask and has a power T tat on his calf.

Wow.....Vols fans in TX?? I thought me and my BN XO were the only two. You'd never believe the looks I got while walking through Austin-Bergstrom in my Rico McCoy jersey and "real" Orange ball cap (the same one in the VN Store ad).

I'd dearly love to come watch a game with my Vol brethren (and.....sisteren??), but it seems that I'm quite a ways away from all of y'all, being in Killeen.....that, and I'm not an alumnus (my BN XO is, though.....and our BN CO is a Bammer grad......makes things quite interesting). Maybe one day, though.

lived in houston for awhile, always represented with a ut cap on, they were always harping about the real UT until i reminded them "1796 bro" . we were a uniiversity nearly a century before texas even became a state

Minor correction: Texas became a state in 1845 thats only 49 years so 'nearly half a century' would be correct.

University of Texas was founded in 1883, so if you say that we were around nearly a century before Texas was founded, that would also be correct.

I live in Texas now and face this same issue quite a lot. I give the same answer though "1796"

As for the OP - the SEC digital network has you covered for most of the games.

I live in east Dallas and have att u-verse. I don't need espn gameplan because every UT game from last season was on an espn channel. If you can't find the UT game on an espn channel or cbs, than try channel 21, which is the local channel for Cowboys games. I'm pretty sure that even the UT games that are scheduled to be on pay-per-view in the local(Knoxville) regions are on displayed on the channel 21. Hope this helps.

I have Uverse too, and I was leaning toward dropping Gameplan this year for this very reason.

I have been in texas for a few years and never had many problems watching games. Dish network and the internet are your friend. They have a plan you can watch pretty much any game. Only had to watch one game (ohio) online last year. I only pay about $5 extra for my plan on dish.

Unless you're a doctor, then you need to quit your Job and come to DENSO. If you are a Dr. and your stuck in Texas, then you need to take 2 ozs of morphine and 17 oxys.

Go Vols.

3rd Base in Frisco is correct as the main viewing party. Did not see anyone mention that every game is shown there and that 3rd Base in Arlington is a satellite party. Both venues are family friendly.

No one has mentioned the "Bigger Twelve" happy hours. Each month one of the DFW area SEC alumni groups hosts a happy hour, usually on the third Thursday of the month. Since this appears to be a secret, I will post the time and place in this forum.

Remember, it's much more enjoyable to watch the Vols with other fanatics wearing orange than sitting by yourself at home!

Since leaving Knoxville, I've lived in Houston twice and now Dallas.

I've found Texans to be quite well natured in all things including football and TN.

Enjoy your time in DFW.

Grew up in Knoxville. Lived in Dallas 15 years. Sec network is channel 21 in Dallas. Least it was last year. Caught all games on it cable (Fios) or espn 360.

Dallas is a great spot. Enjoy!

CBS which I believe is Channel 11 and The SEC Network which is Channel 21. These are the only non cable local stations I am aware of. Lived here in Dallas for the past 6 years, I will say the coverage of Tennessee Football was not that great for the first 5, but last season, between the aforementioned TV Stations, along with ESPN, I believe I was able to take in 8 games.
