Vols in Taxslayer Bowl - OFFICIALLY

Not too impressed with who Iowa has beaten, or lost to. That said, we could have lost to Vanderbilt and our offensive play calling has less variety than most Pop Warner teams, so I am far from calling this an easy win.

This game is next year, so the countdown to the start of the season will be even shorter now :)

True, but we had North out...and Hurd out for most of the game. On defense, not having AJ hurt. I hope the Grand Jury decides not to charge him and we get him back for the bowl game. That would be huge.

North won't be back and neither will AJ or several of the other WR's we've lost. The OL will still be a question mark. Hurd will be rested and a plus. I like our chances, but the fact remains that this team has deficiencies and limitations. They're young. They can beat just about anyone but they can also lose to just about anyone. To write Iowa off is simply nuts.

Have they made it official who we will be opening a can on?

I think these bowls realize the potential for the city vs the game sales, because nobody got a bowl in their state. We do travel well but I don't think that's the motivation behind these picks. It's all about the money spent in hotel/restaurants in their cities.

Who do you think spends all this money? The teams with the best / largest traveling fan bases, duh.

I am so excited. No one thought we had a chance at a Florida Bowl. I have already bought my tickets in section 104 (home team side). and have my hotel booked in down town jacksonville. Let's pain the city Orange!

My first thought when I saw the announcement was that Dave Hart must have pictures, a video, and a sworn affidavit on somebody in the bowl committee.

You do know that the proceeds from all the bowl games the SEC is participating in go into a pot and each school
receives an equal amount after being divided up, right?

Nope you're wrong each team gets part of the payout then the rest gets split up between the sec we are making about 200k more playing in the gator bowl than the liberty bowl.

And a bowl payout is better than none at all. This was a very good day for Vol fans.

Nice! Just booked my room at Fernandina Beach. Plan to leave a couple of days early and visit some old friends in Saint Simon's Island. Any other Vol fans around the Brunswick / Saint Simons area?

How do the red shirts apply to a bowl game? Is it still a "if they play, it's burned?" I was thinking about Charles Mosely, isn't he the one who had the wreck and broke his leg? I don't know if he could physically play, just curious about the rules.
