Looking at one of the Iowa football boards now, and they are not too hopeful on their chances against us. They also think Butch is a good coach.

Nice bowl. Very happy with the team we are playing and the time and date. After all the big bowls and CFP games then we play. Hope we play well.

Also nice to see Vandy fans complain about them not going to this bowl when they were bowl eligible.

He!!...you want "respectable"? Seriously? We sit at 6-6. We're fortunate to be bowling no matter the bowl. We get Jacksonville vs Iowa. Beats the heck out of Memphis vs WV or sitting at home....AGAIN.

Iowa is 6-5 in bowl games under their current head coach. He's never coached in the Gator Bowl before as Iowa's head coach. They've lost their last 2 bowl games with their current head coach, although they played LSU and OU.

Iowa finished the season 7-5. They only beat 2 bowl eligible teams and their best win was against Pittsburgh at Pitt, although all their games were close except the beat down Minnesota gave them. They lost their last two games of the regular season at home against Wisconsin and Nebraska, although both games were close. They lost to a 2-10 Iowa State team at home at the beginning of the season, which is really bad.

are you serious? We should be ecstatic. a 6-6 TN team beat out TX AM, GA, LSU for this one. There is a lot of power in the TN brand. Rumors were bidding war for TN this afternoon. Earlier, we were a liberty lock.

I said it earlier, SEC getting 2 teams in the top 4 New Year Bowls opened this up for TN.

It doesn't matter anymore. The playoff takes all of the significance off of the bowl games except for the three games in the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad we got a good bowl game but I'm a little disappointed bc it's out of state. I guess the bowl committee knew how good our fanbase is and how ecstatic we are to make a bowl. I guess I was hoping for an outside shot of UT playing Penn State in the Music City Bowl. I know I know not very likely but the storyline would've been great!

Reasons #Vols got Gator/TaxSlayer is simple: The size and passion of their fan base, and the way it travels. Simple as that.

I think these bowls realize the potential for the city vs the game sales, because nobody got a bowl in their state. We do travel well but I don't think that's the motivation behind these picks. It's all about the money spent in hotel/restaurants in their cities.

i like this bowl game better, i think we have no problem beating a iowa team and it jumps starts us to next season on top of that it gives us a winning record this season.

i did not like our matchup with west virg. especially if they get their starting qb back and with miami you never know what team will show up. louisville would be a tough game also, not say we would not beat them teams just saying i think lowa is a very beatable team for us to play. i think we win this game easy going away at least by 21, GO VOLS

PS did not like matchup with memphis we would have nothing to gain and everything to lose, this is the best thing that could happen for us. we get a big win in a bowl, finish with a winning season and take it into next season.
