Vols in Kiper and McShay Mock

I hope neither one of them are projected first rounders so they will come back next year to improve their stock.

I would like them all to make a pact to come back next year and try for a NC - it's far fetched that they return, but man it would be sweet.

Going to be really hard to replace Bray, Hunter, and CP.

Yeah, I would like that too, but I just don't see it happening. I can't say that I really blame them either. Hunter's knee injury last year shows how fast a promising career can hit a speed bump.

You are exactly right, this will depend on how nfl teams finish in the draft order... Regardless, I think Bray and Hunter would be well served to come back for their SR year. If Hunter hadn't gotten hurt last year, then he could've gone, but we have to keep in mind that this FL game is only his 5th start (not that this matters a whole lot), but it will be hard for him to bypass players like Robert Woods and some of the other 1st round WRs out there, whereas I think he would be the 1st WR taken in 2014 draft.... Likewise, history has shown that QBs with 4 years of college experience tend to do better in the NFL, and there is a reason why Luck and now Barkley came back for the 4th year. If Bray still has Hunter and Patterson to throw to next year, he would be the 1st QB taken in the 2014 draft... As it stands, even if he goes in the 1st round, being the 4th QB taken results in a significant drop in payout.

It depends more on where the 4th QB is taken than being the 4th QB.

Also, you have to balance what you can get now vs. what you stand to lose. Ryan Mallett and Jevan Sneed played themselves out of a lot of money. Injury is always a looming risk, and with Bray's frame, scouts could easily write him off if he comes back and gets hurt. And, regardless of what you think of Bray, he has had some off the field issues. Another offseason citation could knock him out of the first round no matter how he plays.

Even if he were to go late in the 1st, $8 mil is nothing to sneer at. Most of us could make a lifetime on that.

I am sure this has nothing to do with Gameday being in Knoxville.

What do you expect ESPN to say?

I have a picture of Jay Cutler on my ESPN home page, unless you mean the college football homepage.

Its Kiper and McShay, and they are usually pretty honest and accurate with their predictions of where people will be drafted...You have to realize they are talking about a guy who has only started about 6 games in his career its about potential.

I was talking about the OP being excited that Kiper/McShay picked the game as the one to watch.

This is all adding up to be the most disappointing game yet. Vols better go in there and win. If they don't, it will be meltdown central around here and people will have nobody to blame but themselves.

You can tell McShay likes the vols.

Welcome new user!

I won't melt down. It's a long season. We could lose this game and still win the East.

We SHOULD win it, but it's not a make or break game.
