Vols in Hall of Fame?

The topic is NFL hall of fame. Not sure the UT AD brass have much to say in the process involved to be inducted there. Were you crossing the streams on two different halls of fame?
I guess I was hop scotching them together.

I'd imagine the HOF ballot for return specialists is very short and Sproles would probably get the nod before CP.

I started this same topic a while back. Tennessee has a lot of guys who are close, but not quite HOF material due to lack of longevity and, in some cases, injury. Eric Berry was a lock before injuries and cancer derailed his career.

I think Lewis is the closest, and may get in, but it would be by an inch. The 2000 yard season helps, but lack of longevity hurts. Arian Foster would also be close, but likely not in. He did win an NFL rushing title or two.

I think Stanley Morgan should be in. At the time he retired, he was about fifth and all-time receiving yards. Yes, he has been pushed down the list since then because offenses have changed. If he hadn’t played for the Patriots when they were really bad, he would be in by now. But if he hadn’t been inducted by now, he likely never will be.

Anthony Miller is another who had a really good career, but not quite enough with bad Chargers teams (and QBs) to get in.

Jason Witten is a lock, of course.
Good quote about Jamal, but still only 7 rbs have ever reached the 2000 yd milestone.

Wonder how many of them are in the HoF?

Cordarrelle Patterson is a lock for the HOF
That will depend on the voters. Cordarrelle is a player who does a lot of things well, and Hall of Fame voters in any sport tend to focus on players who had one central skill and were dominant in it. He was a great kick returner, and a good running back and a good wide receiver. That should put him in, but if they just focus on what he did returning kicks and not his whole game, that probably won't get him elected.

Neither his WR play nor RB play will be much of an added benefit

Just the fact that he become a RB starter ten years into his career says a lot to me.
Me too, but like you I am not in the HOF and don't get a vote. He might get in eventually, but it won't be because he started a few games at RB aside from being an extraordinary kick returner

Witten -Yes. Didnt really have a HOF type peak but compiled to the point where he shouldnt have issue getting in eventually.

Kamara - Not happening. Hall of Very Good. If he plays at this level to 35, we can revisit.

Patterson - Not happening. Hall of Very Good

All other retired - If it was to happen, it would have already

Trey - Very good but hasnt shown HOF type peak yet. Highly unlikely but 8-10 more yrs at very good level plus Chiefs winning a ton might be enough.

Witten is the all time receiving leader for NFL TEs. He’s a slam dunk no doubt first ballot HOFer.

Kamara has a shot. He needs another couple of productive seasons. But he’s not in yet.

Witten will get in. The 2026 ballot is loaded so he might fall to 2nd ballot. HOF voters (we've seen with some of the RBs and WRs) love peak more than compilers.

He compiled like crazy but was only a Top 2 TE 4x.

Kamara has no shot absent 4-5 more highly productive yrs.

He's 2nd to Tony Gonzalez in both yardage* and receptions. 6th in TDs

*good chance Kelce passes him in yards this year
