Vols Hire Darin Hinshaw per Drew Edwards

I think Hamilton knows....his article in GVX about there being "Positive feedback" on Dooley's hire means he's aware of the chitstorm he stirred up with this hire, and like Fulmer trying to justify his staff's performance during an early season collapse, he knew the fire was fixing to rain. There is a BOT meeting next month, IIRC, and at the top of the dockett will be Hamiltons gaffes (not just in regard to this hire).

I want a fanbase that DOES NOT settle. If all they do is sit back and take whatever mush the AD gives them, then we will be the next Washington Huskies with a winless season. Guys, Tyrone Willingham was immensely more qualified as a coach than Dooley. This is blind Homerism. At the very least, the right amount of heat will make Dooley take notice that these staff hires are serious freakin business...and another MTSU coach, and I'm done. All hope is gone with this guy.

Here's an idea, LET THE MAN COACH A FREAKIN' GAME BEFORE YOU PASS JUDGEMENT ON HIM OK???Damn, you act like you've got all the answers yet for being so smart all you can do is rant and rave on a message board.Of the thousands of posters on this board I believe you just might be the most ignorant. You constantly try to pass your opinion as fact, always acting like a tough guy when someone calls you out, always responding with your little juvenile 'GTFO'.Grow up, shut up and go the hell on somewhere your bull**** negativity is old and tiresome. For someone who doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground you sure do talk alot, now how about trying something new and be quiet for a little bit?

and I think you and the other mental midgets on here trashing this hire all wear pink underwear and suck your thumbs..:lolabove:

See...you're exactly what I'm talking about....just because others don't break out their pom-poms...and wear skirts like you do...then they have to STFU or GTFO because.....because, YOU SAY SO! Whoa...I guess you shut us up! Who can argue with that? :eek:lol:

You have not even let this man coach one game at UT yet you pass judgement on him and have labeled him a failure.Give him a chance and if he can't get it done then he should be let go but he deserves a chance and he will get it like it or not.

Hear, hear....couldn't have said it much better. But of course we have ton of "coaching experts" here that have never been a coach themselves. Our HC, staff and players haven't had the first practice and already half are failures, shouldn't be here, shouldn't have got hired, a total loser, etc...a verdict handed down by whom....arm chair coaches with ziltch, zero, noda coaching experience

so we have a WR's coach, just hired another WR's coach to another position that he doesnt coach....why doesn't that make sense to me? maybe im just:crazy:but wouldnt you wann hire a guy that coaches that position?

You are exactly right, these same "experts" probably never even played the game yet they know all about what it takes to be a successful coach.Guys like Tennacious ran and grabbed the baseball glove when daddy said "Son, let's go throw the old pigskin around."That's how much this guy knows about football.

Dude I have read everything on Dooley and it all sucks. The voice of the displeased with this hire will be heard next year when attendance is down and the program is losing money because football can't pay for all the other sports. The only way the voice of the people is heard is when the stands are half empty. During the course of my day I see season ticket holders and 3 out of 5 say this hire has them worried and are considering setting out next season to see what happens.

Over 40 yrs of being a fan and this hiring is the thanks we as fans get. My wish is come next year at this time that Hambone and the HC are ran out of town on a rail.

so you have been fan for over 40 years? WOW and your best wish is that hammy and and the hc are ran out of town on a rail next year? 40 years of dedication thank you man, you are such a great vol

I can only hope that Dooley's relative youth and intelligence will serve UT well (though that combo didn't work out too well with the Clawfence, now did it?!) After the amazing staff that Kiffin brought in, it's hard to get too excited about this group and assistants coming from Memphis, but who knows: We can only wait and see. One thing for damn (here my Southern accent) sure: Dooley needs go make a GOOD DC hire, and and get to a few crackerjack recruiters on this staff. They will be CRUCIAL.

Take a major pill. I'm sure the list your head of coaches just beating down the door to come coach at UT is a country mile long. The list in reality though, was a bit shorter. Maybe if the out going coach had announced his intentions of leaving during the season, had a couple good recruiting classes in the house, and MH had a semester or so to find a new coach...then you get your pick of some of the big boys...in our current situation, poor recruiting classes (with the exception of last year), 2 years of drama, image issues, and only 2 weeks to change that image to a degree, and put together a staff and respectable class....We need a dose of reality

I don't think CDD is settling by any means...He might just be one of the better up-and-coming coaches and it looks like he's finding guys that are hungry and young as well and mixing in some veteran coaches to balance it out. CLK - in hind sight was a poor choice...nobody KNEW that going in - NOBODY...Fulmer was a disaster his last few years. Reality is our beloved program has slipped drastically over the past 5 years or so, while UF, Bama, USC, TX, etc have taken huge leaps forward....we need a new younger guy to come in and rebuild...CDD needs support not crazy fans trying to run him out of town the first week he's here....

You want the head coach run out of town before he has even had a chance to coach a game? The only thing you have read about Dooley sucking is some of the crap that Tennacious has been posting and all that is good for is printing out and using as toilet paper.Don't go to the games if you don't want to your tickets will be bought I guarantee it.Give CDD a chance and if he can't get it done THEN talk about getting rid of him not before the first game.

In the first place you have no clue what I have read about the new coach. FYI I read everything on the man I could find on the internet before his presser, and waited till after his presser to form my opinion of him. I am a grown man and can make my own decisions on the head coach. As far as not going to the games and my tickets will be bought? wrong again. My tickets will be in my house, in a frame so that my grandchildren can 1 day look at them and say; Grandpa loved the Vols but when Dooley was hired he refused to go to the games. Futhermore I don't have to give him a chance to voice my opinion. I hated Fulmer from the time he was hired and celebrated the day he was forced to resign.

Man, I swear I don't understand you. First you talk about how excited you are about Dooley than you are blasting him. Make up your mind or is this so you can come back later and claim to be right? Take a stand and stick to it for God's sakes.

Hate to jump in on your argument here, but if my math is correct that means you have been a discontented vol fan for 17 years now? Or was the last year a good one, making it 16 of 17?

Hinshaw looks like a good position coach to me. He's been a great player at QB, has an MBA and there has been plenty of improvement with the player positions that he has coached. QB RB WR

those of you freaking over this guy's recruiting abilities think on this: Brown & oku will get tons of carries and will be here for 2 more years, the frosh QB's & WRs are probably going to get loads of playing time in the next couple years.

Players that want to play early and often will be looking at UT for these positions in the next couple years and I don't think it will take the recruiting wizard that some of you think to get them here. Come play for UT or wait your turn elsewhere it is that simple.
LSU has had several very good receivers waiting in line to start for years. That is why we are getting guys like Hunter right now.

If he will be wr coach, then I will be excited to see what Hunter can do with his leadership. He coached two good receivers which can be argued to be better than UT's.

No offense to our recent WRs. I am just really pumped that we are getting a 6'4" leaper. If you have ever thrown to a 6'4 wr you know what a luxury it is to throw it 5 feet over the defenders head and let em go up and get it.

I don't know about anyone else (because I didn't feel like skimming through 11 pages of responses), but I'm pretty excited about Hinshaw.
I had to transfer to Memphis from UTK (money issues), and I know for sure that Duke Calhoun and Carlos Singleton were legit. It was one of the hardest WR tandems to gameplan against. They were the only ones on the 60?-man roster that made Memphis bearable to watch.

But I DO agree with armchair in the fact that we need a good D-Coordinator.
I'm pretty sure getting a big name is out of the question (what big-name coordinator want's to play second fiddle to a new coach from LA Tech?). But I'd love TCU's or NC's DC.

This is TENNESSEE not LA TECH!

Get ready guys, this staff is a joke. 3 years and he is gone. Hamilton will also be gone.

My stomach is in knots right now. How did we fall so far???

Wow this staff is straight Mickey Mouse but alas the timing is terrible with all the good personnel locked into multi year contracts all over the country.

I never said I was excited about him. I was fearful that he was going to bring in a bunch of no-name lower-level D1 coaches...and that is NOT what we need here...especially with a recruiting class in shambles.

Nevertheless, when he hired Bagget and I read where he was close to bringing Steele in, I started to breath a bit easier...and decided to put down the Hamilton pitchfork...then he turns around and does the very opposite...hires a MTSU/Memphis coach. WTF, over?! You have your opinion. I have mine...but this recruiting class is imploding by the day. Hiring Joseph from La. Tech and then this this guy from Memphis is adding insult to injury.

For some nebulous reason....there are a bunch of goobers here that think you HAVE to stick your head in the sand and pretend things are just rosey, and in order to be a fan you have to be positive, even when there is a major problem. Again, really good example...Fulmer and Kiffin. I was dead on, right about both of them...but these same goobers threw the same tantrums then. That's why I don't take any of their shiite. They are 0 for 2...and about to be 0 for 3.

Recruit: Never heard of you coach...Where did you say you coached, again?

Hinshaw: Uh...Middle Tennessee State...and....uuhhhhhh...Memphis.

Recruit: Okay...? So, didn't Memphis have a disaster for a team last year...so much so, that their Head Coach got fired?

Hinshaw: Uhhhh....well...yeah, bbb-but....

Recruit: Ok, and just who have you coached and what have they accomplished while you were their coach?

Hinshaw: Well...I don't think you've ever heard of them...

Recruit: Yeah, right....kind of like I've never heard of you. Well, coach, I gotta go. It was nice talking with ya.

...nuff said.

Agree 100 %

With all the "experts" on here you would think we could have twice as many 5 star coaches as we could afford to hire if we only recruited our coaches from this forum.

This place reminds me of an old saying:
" Better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it."

Couldn't have said this any better...
